Thanks to Kevin for sending from the former Ace Hardware space. City Swing was located in City Center but closed at the end of March. The Mount Vernon Square location was hoping to open in April but obviously still has a minute to go. STAY TUNED.

Their website says:

“CitySwing is an immersive pop up golf experience in the heart of the city. We believe golf should be convenient and accessible to everyone. Our space was created for a wide range of golfers – from those addicted to the game to those that have never imagined themselves participating. Think of us as an alternative to outdoor golf when time, weather or proximity prohibit traditional play and as an inclusive and non-intimidating place to practice, or simply get introduced to the game. We are passionate about 3 things: (more…)

You’re gonna wanna kick your legs back for this news.

LaZBoy opened up on 14th Street back in November 2015.

Updates when we learn who takes over the space.

801 K Street, NW

The big day is tomorrow. All the details on Apple’s grand opening is here. I was lucky enough to take a tour yesterday and it is, indeed, absolutely dope. The renovation of the building is simply gorgeous. And to be honest, there is no way my photographs captured the beauty so just go and check it out yourself. Seriously.

But I would like to put in a reminder that The DC History Center is also there and really great.

“The DC History Center is a library and museum that includes the Kiplinger Research Library, three galleries, and a museum store. Located in the historic Carnegie Library, the DC History Center is where the public has free access to exhibits and programs about the diverse stories of Washington, D.C. The DC History Center is owned and operated by the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. (more…)

Thanks to Lily for sending:

“The ANC 6E agenda notes that a new 7-11 wants to have an unenclosed sidewalk cafe — coming to the southwest corner of 5th and K. I think that’s two storefronts down from Capital City Wine on the corner, which recently closed.”

First a Holiday Inn Express and now this – let the good times roll!! I kid because I love 7-Eleven and their delicious donuts. Oh yes I do.

3001 Sherman Ave, NW

Thanks to A. for sending:

“The beloved Stop & Go Market on the Corner of Columbia Rd. and Sherman Ave. is no more! After 20 years, the owner has decided to retire and sell the building. Real estate agent said something about a Capoeira Studio / Brazilian Café taking it over.

Ed. Note: Wait, are those palm trees? What are those?

Thanks to John for sending:

“I’ve always told myself I should live where palm trees grow. West End is getting tropical and it’s not just the humidity. Also that Streets Market in the background is supposed to be opening soon.”

Ed. Note: Wait, I didn’t even know a Street Market was coming here?!? Stay tuned for another one coming to Adams Morgan too.

1414-1418 U Street, NW

District Distilling Company sends via email last night:

While we transition to a new location, our products will continue to be found at your nearest restaurant, bar and liquor store. Please follow us on social media for future updates and announcements.”

They also note: “We are releasing 3 new whiskeys this summer AND more releases to be announced by the year end!!”
