From a press release:

“Dupont Circle has long been one of Cava Grill’s most requested neighborhoods to open, and on April 1st, Cava 15th location will call it home. Located at 1222 Connecticut Avenue NW, on the south side of the circle, Cava’s Dupont restaurant is distinctly situated between the downtown, 14th Street, and Georgetown neighborhoods.

Keeping with Cava opening day traditions, the public is invited to celebrate the new location with Community Day, where lunch (grain bowls, salads, and pitas) will be free from 11am-2pm on Friday, April 1st. On Community Day, visitors are encouraged to donate to Cava’s local non-profit partner, City Blossoms, which champions healthy eating through garden-based learning in the DC community. Cava will open for regular service on Saturday, April 2 from 11am-10pm, seven days a week. (more…)

Since it’s not so easy for me to go out to restaurants lately, I’ve been enjoying daydreaming about where to go when I do have the chance. We’ve spoken about the standbys like Blue Duck Tavern and Komi but I’m wondering about some of the new spots that have opened. So if you were to schedule a birthday dinner in the next few weeks – what would be your first choice “fancy” or just delicious restaurants to hit? Does Komi still top the list?

From Petworth Citizen:

“In collaboration with Petworth Citizen, the ANXO Cidery & Pintxos bar team is excited to announce the release of ANXO/Millstone Collaboration #2, their second cider, and second in a collaboration series with their friends at MillStone Cellars in Baltimore. Collaboration #2 is a bright, floral, and aromatic cider that features the Northern Spy apple, known for it’s perfume-like aromas and subtle green melon flavors. It is the first still cider from ANXO, intentionally not carbonated to preserve the delicate texture of this cider.

Petworth Citizen will be debuting Collaboration #2 on draft exclusively on Tuesday 3/29, from 5pm until close. Be the first in town to try it!

For the official tasting and unveiling by ANXO, come to Cider Class on Tuesday at 6:45 pm at Third Floor, right down the street from Citizen. Tickets avialable here: anxociderclass.eventbrite.com

From a press release:

“Looks like Georgetown Park is heading to Church. Jamestown LP announced today that Tin Shop Group, the company behind several of DC’s popular restaurant, casual dining and entertainment establishments including Penn Social and Crystal City’s Highline RXR, has signed a 10-year lease to occupy the 5,919-square-foot Canal Level space of the Georgetown Park retail complex. Founded by recognized restaurant entrepreneurs Geoff Dawson and Peter Bayne, Tin Shop Group aims to provide something for everyone with its newest concept Church – an approachable restaurant and taproom offering casual cuisine, cocktails and craft draft beer, as well as a comfortable space for light meals, coffee and meetings.

Tin Shop Group’s Church is Jamestown’s first tenant to occupy the lower level Georgetown Park area with grand opening plans slated for Summer 2016. The new location will benefit from Georgetown Park’s ample parking, featuring one of the largest parking garages in the heart of Georgetown. Bill Miller and Alex Walker of Miller Walker Retail Real Estate Brokerage represented Jamestown in the deal. Plans call for the transformation of the lower-level space, formerly part of Georgetown Mall food court, into a sophisticated, industrial-designed space, which will accommodate guests for an evening out or an afternoon away from the office. Dawson and Bayne will convert the space to include soft lighting and feature several fire places, deep comfortable seating and large communal tables. Tin Shop’s mission is to create a relaxed space for lunch, dinner, coffee or a meeting.

The Church concept will provide Georgetown with a “home away from home” locale that provides a warm and welcoming feel that will attract nearby residents and office workers alike. Not only will it primarily serve as a restaurant with a lounge, it will also provide local residents and nearby office tenants with a unique, relaxed space for coffee and meetings. The new space will provide seated meals and catered lunches as well as a quick grab-and-go option and a Vigilante Coffee program. (more…)
