“Maxwell Park is a wine bar located in the heart of Washington DC’s historic Shaw neighborhood devoted to the adventurous imbiber. The brainchild of Sommelier Brent Kroll, Maxwell Park aims to deliver a one-two punch of refined fun + expert execution by way of a constant rotation of glasses, bottles, guest chefs, dishes, visiting somms, winemakers and more.

The bar features 50 or so wines by the glass, about half of which rotate out according the month’s theme – and all of which are served at one of four optimal temps using a crazy high-tech refrigeration system. (more…)

“Rōti Modern Mediterranean is excited to open two new locations in the DC area. The first will open on Thursday, June 22nd across from Nationals Stadium (1251 First Street SE). The Pentagon City location will follow in July. Last week a liquor license placard was posted at 1250 – 1274 5th Street, N.E. for a restaurant who’s name was TBD:

“New Restaurant offering steakhouse cuisine from the grill with 150 seats, a Summer Garden with 20 seats and a Total Occupancy Load of 199.”

Washingtonian now reports:

“Le Diplomate owner Stephen Starr is partnering with New York chef restaurateur Joe Carroll to bring Brooklyn steakhouse St. Anselm to Union Market early next year.”

1250 Connecticut Avenue, NW at N Street

This is the infamous former STK space and before that California Pizza Kitchen.   The liquor license placard for City Tap House says:

“New Restaurant serving contemporary food. Total Occupancy Load of 315. Sidewalk Café with 30 seats.

City Tap House opened their first DC location at 901 9th Street, NW in the former 901 Restaurant and Bar in late 2013. You can check out their Menus here. Stay tuned for an opening date.

Squash On Fire‘s café, the Upper West Side Café has officially launched. The menu features fresh and healthy small plates, juices, coffees and handcrafted cocktails as well as grab and go items, ideal for a bite after your lesson or a post-work(out) happy hour!

If you’re not familiar with Squash On Fire, it is the first ever pay-as-you-go squash facility, which opened its doors in the West End neighborhood in May. The design driven facility boasts eight state-of-the-art courts, including two all glass showcase courts, a full service restaurant and bar, and some of the best coaching in the sport, with head coach Amir Wagih, the winner of 23 world championship titles as coach, at the helm.
