I finally found out who’s coming to the former Yamas space (and Subway before them) at 16th and U Street, NW – Tacos!! A worker on the scene wasn’t totally sure of the name but something like Banded or Banditos I think. Anyway he said it would be tacos and burritos and that sounds like good news – STAY TUNED.

Logan Circle’s getting a new Indian restaurant called Pappe according to a liquor license application:

“New Class “C” Restaurant, serving Indian Food. The restaurant will have 75 seats and an estimated Total Occupancy Load of 85, plus a Sidewalk Café with 11 seats.”

It’ll be located right next door to Hando Medo sushi (thanks to all for messaging about the new signage):

And don’t forget the basement bar coming from the former owner of the Reef. Stay tuned for updates on all fronts.

Poke, poke, poke. Poke, poke. Poke. And Sushi! I stopped by yesterday and a worker says Yobi is opening today. Will try to confirm but looked like they were ready to roll. (Damn right that was pun intended.) Poke!

I’m getting giddy. Though the eye catching bright green shall be missed, the rendering (above) for Moreland’s Tavern looks great. And the history is freaking phenomenal. More info on the chef and menus coming soon!

Here’s some more background on the restaurant replacing Swampoodle from one of the owners of Boundary Stone and DC Reynolds:

“We are still aiming for a Fall opening with the name Moreland’s Tavern.

Some history here on Moreland’s Tavern:

Moreland’s Tavern is where the soldiers from Fort Stevens used to go to eat and drink during the civil war. Fun fact about Fort Stevens, it was also the only Fort to see any action during the civil war and actually defended the city from the Confederate Army. So basically Moreland’s Tavern saved D.C. It was also the first place place to welcome people into the city, and the last stop on the way out with Georgia Ave being a main thoroughfare.”
