The restaurant, formerly The Bird, is about to undergo an extensive transformation into a cozy neighborhood “boîte,” featuring casual & creative French cuisine.

“Heads up on a new West African restaurant serving (currently) breakfast through dinner that just opened in Takoma Park in the last couple weeks. Only seen a couple people in the place yet, but it looks nice and has a heck of a long wine list for such a small space. Near Erie & Flower Aves.”

Chaia Taco Opens Second Location Today

What was started by Co-founders Bettina Stern and Suzanne Simon as a pop-up stand at local farmers’ markets grew to its first brick and mortar shop in Georgetown; Chaia Tacos now brings its insanely delicious tacos made entirely with seasonal vegetables, homemade salsas and handmade tortillas to a new neighborhood with an expanded menu and house-made cocktails on tap.

The Red Boat Getting Ready To Roll on H Street

Thanks to Lance for sending the update: “Sign is up for Red Boat on H St.” Back in July we first reported that The Red Boat, Vietnamese Fusion, was coming to the former Micho’s space at 5th and H St, NE. There were some construction delays (aka stop work orders) and folks weren’t sure if they were still coming – but looks like they worked those issues out. Check out their menus here and stay tuned for an opening date.

Rooster & Owl opening February 7th in the former Creme space in Columbia Heights!!

Aha!! A few weeks ago we noted that it looked like a new restaurant was coming to the former Creme space on 14th. And indeed one is – it’s gonna be Rooster & Owl. Despite the fact that the name will obviously be savaged in the comments, [Ed. Note: Personally as a fan of both roosters and owls, I’m rather keen on the name] this sounds very very promising.
