From MPD:

“Today, at approximately 9:12 AM, a suspect entered the Wells Fargo Bank, in the 3300 block of 14th Street, NW and attempted to rob it. The teller refused to hand over any cash, and the suspect fled. Members of the Third District responded and a lookout was broadcast for the suspect. Numerous patrol units began to canvass the area for the suspect.

At approximately 9:25 AM, the MPD received a call for a bank robbery at the PNC Bank in the 1700 block of Columbia Road, NW. The suspect in that robbery matched the same description as in the previous attempted robbery on 14th Street. Members of the Third District responded and confirmed the robbery, and the scope of the canvass for the suspect was expanded.

During the canvass, a subject was sighted that matched the description of the bank robber in the area of Perry Place and Spring Road, NW. As a result of the subsequent investigation the suspect was arrested for both offenses.

Anyone who may have witnessed this offense, or who may be familiar with the suspect, may contact the MPD’s Command Information Center at 202-727-9099.”

“We’re over on Hill East and figured you guys probably aren’t sick of package theft videos just yet. We had one stolen at 6:08pm tonight (12/10/2015) off our front stoop, but at least we get to see this guy while he’s stealing it! I reported it to the police, but I’m not exactly hopeful he’ll be punished.

I think Phase II of my camera system should include some kind of electrical discharge…”

and in Dupont:

This video of a package thief was captured on Corcoran St between 17th and New Hampshire on December 8.

Additional video shows the individual scoping out the front steps and walking around the block several times. In this instance, the package was sitting on the front steps for about three hours between 1pm and 4pm.

Apparently the contents of the packages were not appealing enough to steal, as the individual sliced open the tops of boxes, removed the contents, but chose not to take them with him.”

RIP Matt

From the Hill East Listserv and ANC Rep. Denise Krepp:

“Proceeds from the sale will be given to the Department of Justice to offset the costs associated with providing us with prosecution data for every ward in the city for the past five years.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is charging $40 an hour to find this information. Hopefully, they can find this information quickly. Too many crimes are occurring on Capitol Hill and only a small percentage of individuals involved in these crimes are being prosecuted. As residents of Capitol Hill, we deserve to know why this occurring.
