“Today around 4:40PM two suspects entered the Looking Glass Lounge at 3634 Georgia Avenue, NW. One suspect brandished a handgun and demanded money. There were no injuries reported.

The first suspect was described as a black male, 5’7″, 160 lbs, brown eyes. black hair, medium build, medium skin tone, wearing, black sweatpants, white shoes with purple and black accents, lime green hoodie with pink Nike swoosh.

The second suspect was describes as a black male, 5’7”, early 20’s, black hoodie, blue jeans, black baseball hat, and a black mask.

“There’s a large police presence around Turkey Thicket now regarding the shooting last night. No one was hurt but at least 20 rounds were fired. Several cars on 10th parked by the track had bullet holes.

“2:00 pm – 3500 11th Street, NW (11th & Monroe Street Park) C1 reported that S1 approached him and asked to use his cell phone, when he refused S1 grabbed C1 and bit him on his right arm. C1 pushed S1 away, S1 then picked up a brick, put it inside a sock and began swinging the brick at C1, without striking him. S1 threw the brick on the ground and fled the scene on foot.

C1 refused medical treatment.”

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting at the intersection of 14th Street and Fairmont Street NW. An adult male sustained non-life threatening injuries in this incident and has been transported to an area hospital.

Motorists and pedestrians in the area should expect street closures while we investigate and are asked to seek alternate routes.

“Dear PoPville,

Last Tuesday I was walking north on 10th Street from the U Street Metro (the only entrance open at this point) and passed a group of teens that had just thrown a cup of soda at a car parked in the street with its flashers on (assuming they were waiting for somebody to come out of the temporary Duke Ellington School location.) After I passed them, I heard whispers, muttering, feet movement, and 6-8 of them proceded to punch me in the face.

I swung my umbrella at them and they scattered. I called the police and the officer who handled my case said that they had been chasing them out of allies and different neighborhoods all afternoon (my incident happened at 7:05pm.) He also said that an hour before they did this to me, they did it to a woman on U Street. (more…)

“On May 30, 2017 at approximately 7:20 pm a 5D officer heard gunshots and observed an adult male victim come from the rear of 1830 Benning Rd, NE. The victim was shot multiple times and was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. This horrific crime is being investigated diligently by the Metropolitan Police Departments Homicide Branch. “Fifth District Community, 5D had a call for service for multiple gun shots in the rear of 1400 Block North Capitol St NW this afternoon [Monday]. In light of recent shooting over the weekend, the 5th District had deployed additional units to that area. The area was quickly saturated with the 5D units along with the MPD Gun Recovery unit. 2 arrests were made and multiple weapons were recovered. No injuries were reported.

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 100 block of Q Street, Northwest on Saturday, May 27, 2017.
At approximately 1:01 am, members of the Fifth District were alerted to the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, they located an unconscious adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 32 year-old Algernon Harvey Jones, of Southeast, DC.
After further investigation, officers learned seven additional people, six adult males and one adult female, sustained gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in locating two suspects in this case. Both suspects are described as black males wearing dark clothing. They were last seen fleeing the scene in a black vehicle with tinted windows, heading eastbound on Q Street, Northwest.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

From MPD (sent at 6am):

“The Fifth District responded to the 100 blk of Q Street NW for a shooting. Once on scene the officers located a black male unconscious and not breathing. The male was suffering from a gunshot to his head. DCFEMS and EMS responded to the scene and found no signs of life. Four other victims were also located several blocks away with Non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. All four were transported to the hospital. The case is being investigated by Homicide Branch. Any information please contact them directly.”

“Dear PoPville,

Please be aware that there have been two broad-daylight break-ins in Brightwood and Crestwood within the past several days. In both cases homes were entered while someone was in the home. On Sunday on Underwood St in Brightwood around 10:30 AM a suspect climbed on top of an AC unit to enter through an 8′ high open window with a screen. On Tuesday around 2:30 PM on 18th St in Crestwood a suspect entered through an unlocked door. (more…)
