“Last night (Monday March 18), at approximately 8:15pm, patrol officers in the Third District observed two individuals in the 2900 block of 14th Street NW engaged in what appeared to be a narcotics transaction. As the officers approached the subjects, they fled on foot. Officers were able to apprehend one of the subjects, an adult male from SE Washington, after a short foot pursuit. “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in reference to a Fourth Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Sunday, March 17, 2019, in the 1600 block of Irving Street, Northwest.

At approximately 1:15 am, the victim entered what she believed was a vehicle for hire in the 900 block of U Street Northwest. While inside of the suspect’s vehicle, the suspect inappropriately touched the victim in the 1600 block of Irving Street Northwest. The victim exited the vehicle and the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a white four door sedan.

Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.”

Armed Carjacking in Ivy City Last Night – Car Found in Trindidad, After Chase and Crash One Arrest Made in Carver/Langston

“On 3/15/2019, at approximately 10:00 PM, an adult female reported that she had just been carjacked by two (2) suspects, in the 1000 block of Mt. Olivet Road, NE. The complainant reported that one of the suspects produced a handgun, and ordered her out of her vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene in the complainant’s vehicle.

A short time later, at approximately 10:30 PM, members of the 5D Crime Suppression Team located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Circle 7, at 1211 Mt. Olivet Road, NE. The officers approached the vehicle, at which time the suspects fled in the vehicle, striking an officer who was out on foot. (more…)

Man and Woman Shot at 11:40pm found around 17th and H St, NE

“On 3/14/2019, at approximately 11:40 PM, officers patrolling in PSA 507 reported hearing the sound of gunshots in the area of 19th and H Street, NE. The officers began an immediate canvass of the area, and located two (2) adult victims with gunshot wounds in the 1700 block of H Street, NE. An adult male suffered a graze wound to the lower back, and was transported to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. An adult female victim suffered a gun shot wound to the right foot, and was transported to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. There is no usable look-out at this time. This case is under investigation by the Fifth District Detective’s Office.

Bullet holes from shots fired around midnight at 11th and Harvard St, NW

“Members of the Third District and the Violent Crimes Branch are currently investigating a Homicide/Shooting that occurred at about 6:30 PM this evening in the 1300 block of Columbia Road, NW. An adult male was shot twice in the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

Multiple readers later reported shots fired around 12am at 11th and Harvard St, NW. One reader reported around midnight:

“11-14 shots fired just now in the vicinity of 11th and Harvard/Columbia.”

Sexual Assault Friday Morning in Truxton Circle, Arrest Made; Saturday Night Armed Robbery on the Metropolitan Branch Trail

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit announced an arrest has been made in reference to a First Degree Sexual Abuse and an Assault with the Intent to Commit Robbery that occurred on Friday, March 08, 2019, in the 200 block of P Street, Northwest.

At approximately 11:00 am, the victim was approached by the suspect, at the listed location, as she was getting into a ride share vehicle. The suspect sexually assaulted her and attempted to take her property then fled the scene. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.

On Friday, March 8, 2019, 36-year-old Broadus Johnson, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with First Degree Sexual Abuse and Assault with the Intent to Commit Robbery.

From MPD Saturday night:

“Armed Robbery Gun at 2328 hrs on the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Lookout for (10) B/M’S, ages in their teens, wearing all black clothing and armed with dark and silver guns. Last seen running North on the trail.”
