Armed Carjacking in Eckington Last Night

“On 5/16/2019, at approximately 12:35 AM, an officer from the Fifth District was flagged down by a complainant reporting that they had just been carjacked. After interviewing the complainant, the officers learned that the complainant was parked in the 300 block of S Street, NE, when he was approached by five suspects. One of the suspects produced what the complainant believed to be a handgun, and ordered the complainant out of the car. The complainant then exited the vehicle and began to run away. (more…)

“This evening at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers from the First District responded to the 1500 block of 1st Street SW for the report of possible shots being fired. “On 5/12/19 at approximately 4:20pm a citizen was walking in the 900 block of First Street NW, when he was approached by an unknown subject. That subject stabbed the individual in the leg without provocation and fled the scene. A lookout was broadcast over the police radio and moments later members of the First District Crime Suppression Team stopped a subject matching the description given. The victim positively identified the subject as the person who stabbed him. The subject was placed under arrest without further incident.”

“Alert: Shooting at 0303 hrs in the 3500 block of Georgia Ave, NW. Lookout is for a green Chevy Tahoe occupied by (4) individuals, S-1 light complexion with dread locks. The vehicle was last seen heading southbound on Georgia Ave, NW.”

10pm Stabbing along the border of Mount Pleasant and Columbia Heights on 16th Street

“The third district is currently investigating a stabbing at the intersection of 16th St. and Lamont Street Northwest. An adult male is being transported to an area hospital with stab wounds to the upper body.

Motorist and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Man and Woman Shot around 10:15am in Columbia Heights

Update from MPD:

“As an update to this incident, it was determined that both subjects were shot in the 1300 block of Columbia Road NW. Detectives and Officers on the scene have made an arrest of a suspect. In addition, a search warrant was executed at a residence, where 2 handguns were recovered.

Our investigation has determined that this was an isolated incident and the lone suspect has been apprehended.”
