Yesterday I was walking by shaw metro around 5 pm, and it looked like a junkyard for electric scooters – see picture. How does this fit in with the vision for making DC beautiful?
About an hour later, on my way back at the same location, a young woman zoomed past me on one of these scooters. She almost ran into people on the sidewalk and barely swerved past them. Then I heard the guy behind me muttering something along the lines of – next time someone does that to him on a sidewalk, he is just going to stick his knife in them. Then he yelled across the street at someone else on a scooter, telling them to slow their ass down. (more…)

“On 4/29/19, at approximately 10:12 p.m., officers from the First District responded to the 900 block of 12th Street NE for the sounds of gunshots. On the scene, officers interviewed an adult male victim who stated he had been involved in a confrontation with occupants of a vehicle in a rear alley of the 900 block of 12th Street NE. A short time later, the victim was walking to one of the buildings when that vehicle drove through the block. One of the occupants of that vehicle fired several shots in his direction. (more…)

I live in one of the older condo buildings on M ST SW by the Waterfront metro stop. I normally park on 3rd ST, but recently parking has been much more difficult due to all the new residential buildings in the area. Last week, I parked on K ST SW at 3rd, which is a bit further than I normally park, but I didn’t think much of it. (more…)

“Gunshots in Columbia Heights and now the street/alley is swarming with cops… Anyone else hear them Girard NW between 13th and 14th?
Just two quick shots around 11:30pm, and then the street/nearby alley/lot next to us was swarming with cops and flashlights within minutes.”

“Sadly I have a to report that someone stole a wheel from a parked Chevy Trax last night.
The car was parked near 13th st and H st NE and the event took place around 2am. Clearly the thief came prepared, even had a brick handy to support the car.
Police says they see more and more similar events.”

“At approximately 11:45 p.m. on 4/28/19, First District officers were called to the Potomac Avenue Metro station to assist MTPD was an assault investigation. On the scene, officers located an adult male suffering from stab wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead after life-saving efforts failed.
The suspects have been described as black males, approximately 16-18 old, wearing black jackets and blue jeans.
This case is being actively investigated by members of MPD’s Violent Crimes Branch. Should anyone have information or video regarding this incident, please contact the Metropolitan Police Department’s Command Information Center at (202) 727-9099.”

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1300 block of 1st Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso. Officers and detectives are currently on scene investigating.
Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as the investigation continues.

“Big police presence this afternoon (think it happened maybe around 330). I was next door and saw the flashing lights outside on Connecticut Ave. They were interviewing witnesses and taped off the sidewalk.”
