“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District seek the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects in reference to a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Thursday, May 30, 2019, in the 1700 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest.

At approximately 1:00 pm, two suspects on a scooter approached the victim at the listed location. As the suspects rode by, they snatched the victim’s property then fled the scene.

The suspects were captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in this video (above.)

Anyone who can identify these individual or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.”

“The Third District is currently investigating a stabbing in the area of 13th and U Street NW. An adult male has been stabbed in the torso and has been transported to an area hospital for evaluation, conscious and breathing.

Motorists and pedestrians in the area may experience road closures.

“Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for the first time has been appointed by a federal court to represent the views of the community in an adult criminal matter in which it does not have prosecutorial authority. Specifically, the Honorable Judge Emmet G. Sullivan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has asked OAG to gather and represent the views of District residents and the community on whether the court should reduce Rayful Edmond’s sentence. Edmond was convicted in 1990 on felony drug distribution charges and is serving a life sentence without parole. OAG will invite District residents and the community to share their views on Edmond’s sentence at public forums, and by submitting comments online, by telephone, or by mail (see details below). OAG will then submit a brief to the court that reflects the community’s views by August 30, 2019. (more…)

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit have announced a suspect has been arrested in an Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred in the 2600 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.

At approximately 6:50 pm, the suspect approached a female victim while she was walking at the listed location. The suspect physically assaulted the victim with the intent to commit a sexual act. The suspect fled the scene but was apprehended by responding officers.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 30-year old, Robert Marion Buck of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with the Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse.”

“The Fifth District is investigating an Armed Robbery wherein the victim was stabbed by the suspect.

The offense occurred on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at approximately 9:40 PM near the intersection of Summit Place and U Street, NE.

The suspect approached the adult female victim as she was walking, and demanded her property. As the victim complied, the suspect, without provocation, began to stab the victim numerous times. The suspect then fled from the scene on foot eastbound in the 100 block of U Street, NE with the victim’s property. (more…)

“At approximately 345 pm, members of the First District were called to the 1200 block of Howison Place SW for sounds of gunshots.. Moments later, an adult male was located a few blocks over suffering from an apparent gunshot graze to the body. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injury. ..There may have been (1) or (2) vehicles fleeing the area at a very high rate of speed.. “The Fourth District was working a shooting in the 1300 block of Newton St NW that occurred early this morning at approximately 5:00 am. One victim was shot once in the shoulder. The victim is being treated at a local hospital. This is not an active event and patrol units will remain vigilant and visible in the area following this incident. The case is still under investigation, any information please contact 2027279099″

From MPD Sunday 5:30am:

Earlier this morning, Third District officers were patrolling the area of 9th and U streets NW when they heard the sound of a single gunshot. Officers pursued a subject on foot, detaining him a short distance away. At the time of the stop, the subject was in possession of a firearm magazine loaded with ammunition, but no firearm.

A short while later, an adult male approached the officers with injuries consistent with graze wounds to the lower extremities. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers and detectives are continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”
