Update: Double Shooting. Report of up to 20 Shots Fired in Columbia Heights just after 5pm

Pablo Maurer reported at 5:02pm:

“20 or so gunshots just now in columbia heights, maybe two blocks from me (I’m on Girard and 14)”

SheriC replied: “And there goes an ambulance in opposite direction on Fairmont.”

“At least one young male transported to the hospital not life threatening

2 men on bikes rode by away from
The scene and seemed to be tucking guns into their waistbands”

Update from MPD 5:34pm:

“The Third District is currently investigating a double shooting in the 1400 block of Fairmont St NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder. A juvenile male has also been transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

UPDATE: ARREST MADE. “Burglary One and First Degree Sexual Abuse” 6:20am Sunday in Columbia Heights

UPDATE: 11:21am:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit have announced an arrest has been made in reference to a Burglary One and a First Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Sunday, November 3, 2019, in the 3600 block of 13th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 6:20 am, the suspect gained entry to a residence at the listed location. Once inside, the suspect approached an adult female victim. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim, then fled the scene on foot.

On Monday, November 4, 2019, members of the Fourth District located 26 year-old Theodore Tinsley, of No Fixed Address. As a result of the detectives’ investigation, he was arrested and charged with Burglary One and First Degree Sexual Abuse.” (more…)

Two Possibly Three People Shot in Mount Pleasant this Morning

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting inside of a building in the 3100 block of 16th street NW. Two adult males have been transported to area hospitals with critical gunshot wounds. A third individual has been transported to the hospital from the 3100 block of Mt Pleasant St NW with what appears to be critical wounds. We believe that these scenes are related at this time.

“Dear PoPville,

Tonight, October 31st at around 8:30pm there was an armed robbery in the 1300 block of Columbia road. The heavy police presence in the vicinity peaked my interest, but something was clearly wrong when a black sedan carrying 4 passengers ran a red light at 11th and Harvard, almost t-boning me through the intersection at twice the speed limit. Police pursued this vehicle. 15 minutes later, I asked 4 officers what had happened. One hesitated to answer, then replied “not a shooting” and refused to say more. (more…)

Double Shooting in Shaw around 12:30am

One reader messaged us: “Sounded like 7-8 shots at 12:30. Cops were running down Florida from 7th.”

Vera sends the above from “in front of the Atlantic Plumbing building in Shaw tonight”

Another reader forwarded a report that the shooting was closer to Florida Ave.

Disturbing report from Columbia Heights this morning

“just saw about 8 kids chase a man through the street and jump him on 14th NW & Columbia around the 7-11. With all the people running, I thought it was another shooting. But then I noticed they were all laughing and smiling.
They caught up to him started kicking & punching him for a few secs then ran to the opposite corner and were just laughing about it. The guy got up and was able to walk away. No cops in sight, despite what seems to happen on that corner every god damn day. (more…)

“5D Robbery Snatch of a 9 year old

On October 30, 2019 at approximately 3:30 PM a 9 year old girl and a 10 year old girl were walking home from school in the area of the 900 block of 22nd Street NE. The 9 year old borrowed the 10 year old’s cell phone to call her mother as they were walking. As they were walking they encountered a group of juvenile males, one of which grabbed the phone from the 9 year old. The group fled on foot towards the 1900 block of I Street NE. Neither of the girls were injured.

This case is being investigated by members of the Fifth District Detectives Office. Anyone with information is asked to call (202)727-9099.”

9pm Shooting in SW; 9:30 pm Shots Fired on Capitol Hill

“October 29, 2019, at 8:57 pm First District units heard and responded to the sounds of gunshots within the 200-300 block of K Street, SW. Upon their arrival to the scene officers located an adult male victim behind 237 K St, SW with gunshot wounds to his lower body. The victim has been hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries. The victim nor witnesses provided any information regarding the suspect. This investigation is currently open and ongoing.

“This evening at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers from the First District responded to the 400 Block of 13th St, NE and the surrounding area for the report of sounds of gunshots. Once on scene, officers located eight shell casings. The First District has not received any additional information regarding a lookout. “Shooting in the 600 block of Otis Pl., NW. Lookout is for a white sedan white sedan with unknown tags.”

“Nothing like 8 gunshots outside your window to blow your Nats buzz. This whole grab my dogs and roll toward my bedroom wall routine is getting old. (Cc: @PoPville; shooting on O between 7th and 8th NW during top of the 9th)”

Kelly reported at 11:39pm: “I think I heard gunfire on 9th and N Nw. Just saw police rushing that way.”
