“Putting the pandemic aside, as long as these folks aren’t harming others or damaging property, I wouldn’t mind this sort of thing if all these vehicles were electric. But the noise and the pollution (I assume many are 2-cycle) are definitely a nuisance in their current form.” (more…)

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 2100 block of 4th Street NW. Units responding to the area located shell casings, and an adult male walked into an area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower extremities.
Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.
Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

Thanks to all who helped us track this craziness in real time on our twitter.
Update from MPD:
“Good evening. At approximately 3:50pm, officers from the Third District were on patrol in the area of 13th and Columbia Rd NW when they heard the sounds of gunshots. The officers observed a moped exit the area at a high rate of speed and attempted to stop the operator to investigate. The vehicle fled from the officers who pursued it with the assistance of our Air Support Unit. Ultimately, the moped was stopped in the area of 3rd and F Streets NE where the operator was apprehended. Fortunately, there were no accidents or injuries as a result of this pursuit. (more…)

From MPD 7:10pm Tuesday night: “ALERT: Shooting investigation at the intersection of Queen St and Trinidad Ave NE.”
Jason reports: “Saw this out on my walk with the pup this morning. Scarlet Oak in Navy Yard. Looks like someone wanted the booze on the other side of the glass. Hard to see from the pics but the bar is on the other side of the window and the alcohol is lined on the shelves. Also tough to see, but there’s another layer of glass behind the first and it looks much tougher as the person apparently couldn’t get through that one.”

From MPD 9:15pm Sunday:
“1D officers are currently on the scene of a shooting in the 1300 block of 1st St SW. An adult male suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 1300 block of 1st St SW is currently closed to traffic. Any witnesses are encouraged to call 202-727-9099 or anonymously text 50-411 with information.”

“On 3/30/20 at approximately 0048 hours, officers from the First District responded to the intersection of 5th and L Street SE for the sounds of gunshots. On the scene, officers located firearms evidence and were also notified that a window of a residence in the 1000 block of 5th Street SE had been struck by a bullet. (more…)

“On March 27, 2020 at 431 pm, the Fourth District was on scene at Washington Hospital Center when an officer heard the sound of a gunshot. That officer immediately apprehended the suspect and secured the weapon. No one was harmed during this accidental discharge and it is believed the discharge was not directed at anyone. The suspect was charged with subsequently charged for this incident.”
