“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1700 block of North Capitol Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury to the foot.

The victim has been transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and a suspect has been stopped. There are closures in the bus deck area and bus travelers may be delayed.”

1800 block of 14th Street, NW
Thanks to all who messaged us as it was happening. Still unclear what actually caused the driver to crash though I did also get reports that arrests were made. Updates if MPD releases any reports.
DC Fire & EMS reported around 6pm: “Crash with vehicle into structure 1800 block 14th St NW. #DCsBravest on scene assessing 3 injuries. Initial indications of structural damage. The cave-in task force is enroute. 1 structure being evacuated. Collapse zone established.”
Som Records responded “One guy did leave in a stretcher but he was talking and didn’t seem too hurt.”
A reader responded to us on twitter with news about the injured pedestrian: “My son, former husband and brother-in-law we’re leaving the store moments before this happened and narrowly escaped with their lives. Former husband hit by the vehicle on his leg. Former husband has leg injury.”
Kat sent the photo above: “I was buying shoes inside Pacers Running when that happened. I was with my two toddlers (you can see their scooters by the entrance on one of the photos). We are fine though and only one of them was a bit scared. The other one didn’t care because he wanted an orange tracker.”

A reader reported around 10:15pm Saturday night: “someone was just shot at Bates and N Cap NW. They loaded the guy in the ambulance but seem uncertain about his prognosis”

14th and Oak St, NW
One reader reported: “Wanted to report shots were fired around 3:30 pm in Columbia Heights today. Police currently on scene. Any further information would be appreciated.”
Another reader reported: “Not sure if you heard, 4-5 shots fired at 14th and Ogden NW at like 3:15. I almost biked directly through the line of Fire, had to slam on my brakes and duck out of the way to not get hit. Didn’t see if anyone got shot, I ran away.”

“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic crash that occurred on Friday, August 28, 2020, in the 200 block of 11th Street, Northeast.
The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 1:29 am, First District officers responded to a crash involving a motorized scooter and a pickup truck at the intersection of 11th Street and Constitution Avenue, Northeast. The on-scene investigation revealed the scooter operator was traveling westbound on Constitution Avenue, Northeast and a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling the wrong direction on 11th Street, Northeast, which is one-way southbound. Hi! I live in the 14th & U area of NW and over the past year have had several instances of my car window being smashed open for break-ins. I do not have anything of value in my car and generally do not leave anything out on the seats or anything. I’ve began to wonder if people sometimes just leave their cars unlocked to prevent the hassle/expense of dealing with a broken window – was wondering if the community had any suggestions!!”
