Keith (and many others) report: “5-6 shots fired. I st between 5th and 6th NE. Cops on scene taping off road. Don’t know if anyone was hurt but every unit on the way”

“Large police presence with an ambulance at the mouth of the I St. alley between 5th & 6th St. NE. Nobody’s been loaded into it as far as we’ve seen.”

“just ran from shots at 5th and I NE, huge police response, not sure if anyone was hit. Scary.”

From MPD: “Alert: Shooting at in the 400 block I Street, NE. Lookout for Black Male, with all black clothing. DO NOT TAKE ACTION CALL 911″

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle of interest in reference to a Theft From Auto offense that occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in the 6500 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.

At approximately 4:45 pm, the suspect forcibly entered the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then took the victim’s dog then fled the scene.

The vehicle of interest is described as a white Mercedes Benz ML350 SUV with a Virginia tag of UMK9160. It was captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photo below: (more…)

Double Shooting at 9th and Kennedy Street NW around 9:30pm last night, a 17 year old has been killed

“10 shots fired at 9:33pm – I think on 9th between Kennedy and Longfellow.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday, August 10, 2020, in the 5500 block of 9th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 9:34 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and found no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Additionally, officers located a second victim, an adult male, suffering from a gunshot wound. Readers reported: “why is a DC PD helicopter doing constant circles over H and I streets NE between 8th and 6th? This has been going on for 10 minutes…”

“It was crazy! I’m right at the top of 6th where Florida crosses & cops were all around the house! I saw 5 cops Running down FL past 7th street not sure what happened next”

“Car and about 7 police cars sped past me just south of H street and almost hit my friend and I. Was crazy to watch, helicopter following and everything.”

“HUGE police presence on M st and 6th NE. At least 20 cop cars and a helicopter overhead. Any news on what this is?”

One reader who heard police talking reports:

“Re the chase ending near union market. Saw the car speed down our alley closely followed by an unmarked car with its siren on. An hour or so later we’re out with the dog and a few cops are talking. Said four juveniles carjacked a bmw at knifepoint at 10 and L and then joyrode for a while. They ditched on the 600 block of Orleans or the alley bw Orleans and Morton and were immediately arrested. Amazingly nobody got hurt at any point. Was a bit hairy for a while with the chopper and lots of cop cars. But anyway, that’s it from the horse’s mouth.”

“On 8/10/20 at approximately 6:54 p.m., First District officers responded to the 900 block of 11th St NE for a report of an armed carjacking. On the scene, the officers located an adult victim who reported that while he was unpacking his vehicle, he was surrounded by four suspects. One of the suspects showed him a knife and demanded his personal belongings, including his car keys. The victim surrendered his property and the suspects entered the vehicle and drove northbound. Lookout for a white 4 door sedan with heavy tint fleeing towards Eastern Ave NE.”

Marito reported: “Gunshots fired at 7th St and T St NW, right by the CVS. Heard about 15 shots fairly rapidly.”

“Shooting at 7th and T in Shaw at around 11:50PM on August 9. Apparently there were multiple injuries. Bullet went through our bedroom window (we are safe).”

In Other Gunshots Fired Saturday Night – Petworth and Brightwood

“On August 8, 2020, at approximately 7:46 pm, multiple sounds of gunshots were reported in the area around the 4800 block of 4th Street NW. During the canvass by 4th District officers, multiple shell casings were recovered in the 300-400 block of Delafield Place NW, but there were no reports of any injuries. Additionally, numerous parked vehicle was damaged by gunfire.”

“A 17-year-old is dead and an off-duty police officer is fighting for her life after at least 21 people were shot when a dispute broke out early Sunday at a cookout attended by hundreds of people in Southeast Washington, authorities said.”

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.
