Shooting Homicide in Columbia Heights around 11:30pm

One reader reports: “There was a shooting at 13th and Clifton St NW at about 11:30pm last night. There were 4-6 shots fired and the shooter got away in a white Kia. There was a huge police response and a victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Forensics is currently surveying the crime scene.”

From MPD:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1300 block of Clifton Street NW. An adult male has sustained critical injuries.”

“First District Patrol units have arrested a male subject in regards to a Bicycle Theft case in the 700 Block G Street SE.

A complainant reported her bike stolen on Saturday, August 22th. On the following Sunday morning, the complainant encountered a male subject riding the stolen bike and waived down a passing patrol unit. When police attempted to contact the subject, he immediately fled. (more…)

“On Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at approximately 7:32 pm, a female had just loaded groceries into her car and after getting into her car to leave two suspects jumped in her car and pushed her out. They then stole her car and fled north in the 3800 block of Georgia Ave, NW. The efforts on the Fourth District officers lead to a quick apprehension of one of the two suspects and recovery of the woman’s car. (more…)

Keith (and many others) report: “5-6 shots fired. I st between 5th and 6th NE. Cops on scene taping off road. Don’t know if anyone was hurt but every unit on the way”

“Large police presence with an ambulance at the mouth of the I St. alley between 5th & 6th St. NE. Nobody’s been loaded into it as far as we’ve seen.”

“just ran from shots at 5th and I NE, huge police response, not sure if anyone was hit. Scary.”

“The stolen dog can be seen in the photo. The dog is described as an 8 year old Yorkie mix that goes by the name Lyric.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle of interest in reference to a Theft From Auto offense that occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in the 6500 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.

At approximately 4:45 pm, the suspect forcibly entered the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then took the victim’s dog then fled the scene.

The vehicle of interest is described as a white Mercedes Benz ML350 SUV with a Virginia tag of UMK9160. It was captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photo below: (more…)
