“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in the 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast.

At approximately 8:46 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Additionally, an unconscious adult male was located inside of a hallway of a residential building, at the listed location, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A second adult male victim was located inside of an apartment, in the same residential building, suffering from a gunshot wound. (more…)

“On August 4, 2020, at approximately 9:12pm, multiple gunshots were fired in the 5400 block of Georgia Avenue NW. As a result, (4) males sustained gunshot wounds. All four victims were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Ballistic evidence was collected at the scene. There is no lookout for any suspects at this time.

My husband and I were witness to the incident reported in the Post [‘Two Black moms took their kids to the Mall. Secret Service officers confronted them with guns, they said.‘] from our car driving on Constitution. We were on scene after the guns but saw the women in handcuffs, the crashed secret service vehicle and I noticed the Women’s car had a “baby on board” sign on the back and appeared legally parked. Our office represents a bicyclist who was critically injured in a hit-and-run bicycle crash on Friday, July 10, 2020 at about 12:15pm near the intersection of New Hampshire Ave and Quincy St, NW. As a result of the crash, he was knocked unconscious, broke his collarbone, and underwent surgery at Howard University Hospital.

Now that he is out of the hospital and recovering at home, we are trying to identify any witnesses who might have more information about the crash or driver. Would you be willing to post the attached flyer? We are hoping some of your readers might come forward with some information.”

“Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser authorized the release of body-worn camera (BWC) videos related to three deaths involving Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers. The BWC footage is being released pursuant to the Council of the District of Columbia’s Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Second Emergency Amendment Act of 2020.
