Ed. Note: It sounds like it could be related to the 3:45pm shooting near the Petworth metro yesterday afternoon.

“Dear PoPville,

Any idea what was happened on the red line yesterday? I was on a north-bound red line train around 4:15 in the afternoon, and when we got to Fort Totten, the police held the train after departing passengers got off (though those of us who were continuing north remained on the train). Officers (with guns unholstered) stood at every open door and did not allow anyone to enter the train (but also didn’t direct those of us on the train to get off). Then a group of police (with guns drawn, shields up, and “SWAT” emblazoned on uniforms) moved from car to car doing what appeared to be a sweep. Read More

That spurred me to report the crime, primarily because I know this type of repeated behavior often escalates to more violent sex crimes, and I reached out to another victim to get the detective on the case’s phone number. The way the police handled my complaint was almost more traumatizing than the crime itself. Read More

“Dear PoPville,

Sunday morning I woke up at 630 am and saw that my car–parked off street in my driveway–had been stolen.

I promptly called 911 and notified the dispatcher that my car had been stolen. I gave her the VIN number, make and model of the car and she told me that police were en route to interview me.

I waited over two hours, with additional calls to 911, for the police to show up. Read More
