“REI is coming back to NoMa with a brand new line up of summer events! The NoMa BID today announced that REI is re-opening their popular REI Community Space at Wunder Garten, NoMa’s pop-up Bavarian bier garten and launching their “United Outside” campaign.  The NoMa BID will also be hosting the ever-popular NoMa Summer Screen, a 4th of July Bash and other exciting events for the entire community.

After a highly successful first season, REI’s Community Space at Wunder Garten will once again provide urban and wilderness adventurer’s throughout the DMV with the chance to come together in a unique neighborhood destination and enjoy outdoor classes, happy hours, fundraisers and some great parties this summer.

In honor of their D.C. flagship store opening this fall, REI recently announced their “United Outside” campaign, marking 100 days of outdoor recess dedicated to the belief that in the outdoors we can all find common ground. Many of REI’s events will take place in the Wunder Garten.

A few events being hosted by REI in their Community Space at Wunder Garten show the dizzying range of activities around which citizens can become “United Outside”, including: (more…)

Thanks to Justin for sending the update on Canteen:

“Oh and for those who asked, no there are no bathrooms. It’s literally just that outside patio. I think if you walk down around the corner you can go into the office building and use their’s but I’m not certain.

Ed. Note: A commenter writes: “They do have a bathroom- literally half a block away. You had to walk down 21st Street past the gift shop, go through the glass double doors on the right, down the stairs, follow the hallway, 2nd or 3rd door on the left. “Breaking the seal” is a major commitment.

And no way to run a tab, single transactions only. $9 for the hot dog, $10 for the pulled pork”

Two of my all time favorite breweries. Christmas has come early to Brookland Pint:

“Tuesday, May 31 – Doors at 11 a.m.
Brewery representatives in house at 5 p.m.
Release of RAR / 3 Stars DOCO District IPA

If you’ve spent any time in Brookland Pint, you’ve seen DC’s own 3 Stars Brewing and the Eastern Shore’s RAR Brewing represented prominently on our draft list.

In honor of Savor Week, they’ve collaborated on a 7.8% IPA that promises to be big and juicy!

We’ll be showcasing six drafts from each brewery, including some new and limited releases:

TuesdayCollabBP

3 Stars/Millstone Brandy-Lyn
8.5% Graf (Beer-Cider Hybrid) – A blend of bourbon barrel-aged cider (with wild yeast and bacteria) and brandy barrel-aged beer

3 Stars Starsky and Dutch
8.3 Imperial Chocolate Stout – Brewed with Dutch cocoa and finished with cocoa nibs from Undone Chocolate

RAR Marylan
A brewery-only, 5% blond ale hopped like an IPA with an absurd amount of Australian Galaxy

From the fine folks at 3 Stars Brewing Company (6400 Chillum Place, NW):

“Heads up!!!! In case you haven’t seen all the coverage on social media, we are releasing our new Double IPA, #ultrafresh, today at the brewery. This beer is brewed with Glaxy, Topaz and Columbus hops and comes in at a nicee 8.3% abv. Big, juicy hop notes fill your nose and dance across your tongue before finishing with a well balanced bitterness. Doors will open at 4pm and there is a two 4-pack limit per customer. This is a very limited release and will likely not make it out into the market, so get yours while you can. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming releases and events including more info on next Sunday’s BBQ (5/22/16). Thanks for your support and keep drinking great local beer.”

Update: Sign the change.or petition here.

“Dear PoPville,

Another blow struck against parents who want to act like responsible adults. The Friday night concert series now features Corona and Modelo beers exclusively, plus the fun of rent-a-cops searching your bags. I’m hoping the PoPville community can help contact the Riverfront BID and let them know what a terrible decision this was.”
