“Drink Beer. Save Wildlife.

Tickets are on sale now for the Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s 12th annual Brew at the Zoo. The event will be held on Thursday, July 21, from 6 to 9 p.m. Hosted by Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ), Brew at the Zoo will feature nearly 100 craft and microbreweries. Local favorites such as Port City Brewing Company and Atlas Brew Works will be joined by popular craft microbreweries including DC Brau Brewing Company, Flying Dog Brewery, and BadWolf Brewing Company.

In addition to sampling great hops, guests will be able to purchase food from local favorites like Ledo’s Pizza, and popular food trucks including Rocklands, Big Cheese, and Red Hook Lobster Pound. Guests will be able to mingle with new and old friends while playing lawn games and enjoying live music by The Reagan Years. (more…)

Summer Beer Garden from NRG, Canteen, Coming to Courtyard at 2100 M St, NW

“This summer, the Neighborhood Restaurant Group, Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) and Liberty Property Trust are partnering to bring a seasonal, craft beer garden called Canteen to the District. The 100-seat outdoor beer garden in the courtyard at 2100 M Street NW will feature 10 rotating drafts, a menu from Red Apron Butchery, weekly live music, and lawn games.

Canteen will be open Wednesday through Friday, 4–10 p.m., and Saturday, 12–10 p.m. (weather permitting). Canteen’s grand opening is on Saturday, June 18. (more…)

If you’ve spent any time in Brookland Pint, you’ve seen DC’s own 3 Stars Brewing and the Eastern Shore’s RAR Brewing represented prominently on our draft list.

In honor of Savor Week, they’ve collaborated on a 7.8% IPA that promises to be big and juicy!

We’ll be showcasing six drafts from each brewery, including some new and limited releases:

Tap Take Over at The Airedale with Denizen’s Brewing Co and Fundraiser for City Dogs Rescue

“we are doing a Tap Take Over with Denizen’s Brewing Co from Silver Spring. We are going to have 4 of their beers on tap mixing limited edition and flagship brews, we are also working with City Dogs Rescue. Our normal Happy Hour is from 5-8pm where, All Draft’s are $2 off, $4 Rail Drinks, $6 House Wine. This Wednesday you will be able to extend Happy Hour until 9pm, with a $10 donation to City Dogs Rescue. We are going to have a few adoptee dogs hanging out, good beer and hopefully a fun meet up for pet owners.”

“Heads up!!!! In case you haven’t seen all the coverage on social media, we are releasing our new Double IPA, #ultrafresh, today at the brewery. This beer is brewed with Glaxy, Topaz and Columbus hops and comes in at a nicee 8.3% abv. Big, juicy hop notes fill your nose and dance across your tongue before finishing with a well balanced bitterness. Doors will open at 4pm and there is a two 4-pack limit per customer. This is a very limited release and will likely not make it out into the market, so get yours while you can. Stay tuned for more details on upcoming releases and events including more info on next Sunday’s BBQ (5/22/16). Thanks for your support and keep drinking great local beer.”

“Right Proper will be at Dupont Farmers’ Market [20th St. NW between Massachusetts Ave. and Hillyer Pl, NW] starting this Sunday. We are super excited to be the first brewery at the farmers’ market. We have brand new 750 ml growlers ready to go for the Market We will be posting what beers we are serving every week. Bring kegs for tasting. $3 – deposit on growler. $7 – fill. Guests can bring back empties for a deposit or just exchange for a brand new bottle.”

Update on The Midlands Beer Garden Coming to Park View – New Rendering, Mural and INDIEGOGO Launch

If you like the new sign/mural get ready to do triple back flips. A long awaited update on Park View’s new beer garden – The Midlands:

“Projected Opening is Summer 2016. We are still navigating the DC permitting process to be allowed to start our buildout, but we’re confident that will be over soon. Everything is in place and our contractor is ready to get started as soon as DCRA approves our architect’s drawings. We believe build-out will take no longer than 1 month. The inside will have a “Beer Hall” feel to it. 10 picnic tables (5 on each side) with a large rectangular bar in the middle. We’ll have 6 large screen HDTV’s inside, We’ll be subscribing to direct TV for the NFL ticket and College Football plus many other sports including the Summer Olympics and we’ll also be showing the Presidential Debates.

MURAL

The mural was designed by Mike Tanoory who is based here in DC. His instagram is @MikeTannory and his website is www.tanoorystudios.com. The mural will be inside the Midlands and span the entire right 40’ wall. It’s a collaboration between The Midlands, PBR, but mainly it’s all Mike’s amazing imagination.

INDIEGOGO: I find it appropriate that on the day we launched our campaign on the same day 83 years ago prohibition ended.

As we navigate DC’s permitting process and prepare for construction we thought we’d try to raise a little extra capital to help our build-out costs and at the same time offer some fun rewards to those who are as excited as we are to get this party started! So, take a look! From glassware and Midlands gear to keg parties and even the opportunity to design your own bathroom! There is something in there for everyone.
