In April of 2013 we noted that 1427 H Street, NE was up for lease:

““1st FLOOR ONLY is $6,000 / Mo. The 2nd FLOOR is $3,500/ Mo. Whole building is $8,500/ Mo. Property is build-to-suit w/Brick walls. 4 doors: 2 on outside Patio ( Maryland Ave) & 2 on H st. Lease of 5 years available.”

Now a liquor license application has been posted here for Halftime Sports Bar located at 1427 H Street:

“This is a new “C” Tavern. Sports Bar with sports shows on TV’s throughout the bar. Food to be served will be french fries, hamburgers and chicken wings.”

Hours are listed at Sunday from 10am – 2am, Monday through Thursday 12pm – 2am, Friday from 12pm – 3am and Saturday from 10am to 3am. Construction/demo has already started.

Also back in Nov. 2013 we learned that H Street would be getting a huge sports bar called Sin Bin Sports Bar & Restaurant located a block away at 1336 H Street, NE. It’ll be interesting to see if two sports bars survive being located so close together. Updates (on both sports bars) when they get closer to opening.

Halftime Sports Bar will be located a few storefronts west of the Argonaut:

Last week we learned that Dacha Beer Garden was looking to open a second location at 923-25 5th Street, NW. The Mt. Vernon Triangle blog reports some more info from a “memo from the owners (DACI Enterprises LLC) that was shared with the ANC”:

“An open air beer garden style sitting area will be location in the front behind the existing wall and within the perimeter of the private property.

Estimate capacity will be approximately 300 people.

Hours of Operation will be Monday through Sunday from 8 am to 2am.”

I was curious where exactly that was – so here are some photos I took on Saturday. They hope to be located right by the recently opened Silo restaurant which is the single story red brick building to the right in the photo below:

To the north it will sit next to the former Louis Rogue building now home to the Cloakroom strip club:

A couple of weeks ago a reader reported overhearing some plans for Red Light – coming to Bar di Bari:

“a brothel-themed food space, with actual red lighting and faux-chic-come-amorous seating, including plush club chairs…it seems that the place will center around a lot of sweets, but perhaps not the morning baked goods (so maybe an evening only joint??).”

Coming soon:

A couple weeks ago we learned Bar di Bari would be closing and reopening as ‘Red Light’. A reader reports a few details he overheard while at Bar di Bari:

“First, sounds like Bar di Bari will be closed as of this weekend (Sat or Sun, not sure which). The food offerings would seem to confirm this, since the case is damn near empty at the moment.

More interesting than that, however, is what Bar di Bari will become. When you last announced the name for Gordon’s new concept for the location, I laughed when a few of the commenters wondered whether “Red Light” was “a wink at what Logan used to be known for.” Turns out I shouldn’t have laughed – after having the luck to be sitting in the cafe while Gordon had a very overt design meeting with what I presume to be his architects/investors/etc. earlier this week, turns out that’s exactly the idea they’re playing off: a brothel-themed food space, with actual red lighting and faux-chic-come-amorous seating, including plush club chairs.

They weren’t really hiding anything, leaving notes all over the place in full view of the public, and it seems that the place will center around a lot of sweets, but perhaps not the morning baked goods (so maybe an evening only joint??). The staff (which is only two people at this point, way down from the 6 to 8 they used to employ) wouldn’t divulge too much, which is understandable.”

More info when it becomes available.
