Ed. Note: This is the former Redline sports bar (and Indebleu before them.)

From the liquor license placard:

“Applicant seeks to expand its premises into the ground floor. The expansion will create 155 new seats, increasing the seating capacity from 130 to 285. The new Total Occupancy Load of the restaurant will be 325.”

Sweet. Thanks to Eric for sending:

“Saw in the ANC2E agenda for Sept that there’s an application for “Installation of Rooftop Deck” at the Sovereign in Georgetown.”

Any fans of the Belgian bar & bistro?

From an email:

“We’re happy to announce DC Reynolds has been open for 2000 consecutive days. To celebrate we are having a pig roast with DC Brau (releasing Stone of Arbroath), and debuting our single barrel from Eagle Rare. Tickets are $30 and include the pig roast, 1 free Brau, and expanded #BOGO from 4-9pm. We’d love to thank the community for supporting us for all these years. Next up we’re gunning for Cal Ripkin streak of 2632 consecutive days!”

Dirty Water’s says:

“We’re not your average bar owners, and this is not your typical DC bar.

We’re a motley crew of sports enthusiasts dedicated to providing good beer, great food and the best spot to watch our favorite Boston Teams. Our less-than-traditional management team consists of a former baseball minor leaguer, college hoops coach, cap hill cameraman, true sports fan and our own version of Stone Cold Steve Austin.”

They may no longer be cash only but they continue to anchor a block that is arguably one of the best in the District.

Fellow fans, mark your calendars:

“Derby will be celebrating 10 years on Monday, October 16th

On Sat, October 28th, we’ll be hosting a Motown Halloween Party with dancing in our back room — plus the following specials: a Sugar Pie Honey Punch and a Sex Machine cocktail;

On Tue, October 31st, at 8pm, we’ll be screening the 1978 classic, Halloween, in the back room; we’ll have pumpkins for carving in the main room, patio and up on the deck (and we’ll be picking up the tab for the best pumpkin).

Every fall, we host our annual Halloween drive for DASH … currently, there are 85 kiddos in tow … our aim is to provide costumes and candy so the youngsters can celebrate Halloween at the residence (we’ll be accepting donations until Sun, October 22nd)

Thanks to Barred in DC for letting us know the good word on Dio opening last night.

From Dio’s facebook:

“Dio is a natural wine bar with light fare and a hip atmosphere.”

Cheers

From Grand Duchess (former Pharmacy Bar, High Dive):

“We’ve installed a translucent screen that fits the entire way across our bay window so that movies can be seen from inside as well as outside the bar. Showtime is 9pm.

Next Tuesday (the 26th) we will be showing Step Brothers, followed by Point Break on Oct 3rd. For the rest of October, we will be doing Tuesday night horror double features in the lead up to Halloween: flicks like From Dusk Till Dawn, Suspiria, Jason Takes Manhattan, etc.”

From a press release:

Winter has come and gone for Drink Company, and the team is poised to celebrate fall and fright in PUB DREAD all October long. The season is ripe for horror, which will dominate the spaces that previously hosted Cherry Blossom PUB, Game of Thrones PUB, and Miracle on 7th Street (1839-1843 7th Street NW).

PUB DREAD from Drink Company on Vimeo.

Co-owner Derek Brown says, “For us, Halloween is the perfect foil to create a pop-up space–you’ve got horror, camp and pop-culture all wrapped in one season. We’ve gone all out with this one and, from the decor to the drinks, I think Halloween heads are going to rejoice. Plus, you get to wear your costume 31 days this year, which is a total bonus.”

At PUB Dread, guests will celebrate Halloween for 31 day straight with cocktails like The Dead Will Walk the Earth and We All Float Down Here in the discomfort of The Haunted Woods and The Dollhouse. Expect plenty of frightful surprises that will challenge you to hold onto your drink. (more…)
