Last week we were surprised to see Larry’s Lounge had “gone fishing”. Turns out they just missed a permit/license filing. All is well with the world again. Thanks to Aaron for the update from Larry’s:

“To keep Washington warm during the winter months, Shaw rooftop El Techo is bringing back Selva, their wintertime rainforest-inspired look on October 30th. El Techo is enclosing the roof to keep the cold air out and the vacation vibes in by allowing those rooftop hangs signature of summer to continue all year long. This season, the roof features a retractable ceiling, designed by owner Louie Hankins himself, which can be open and closed to allow guests to chill out on the open-air roof on that inevitable 70-degree January day. “I was going to drop in there on Friday after a birthday party, when I got there, they were closed before midnight. Sunday evening came, and they were still closed. It was odd. I went up to the door and they had a sign that said “Closed Gone Fishing”. I spoke with someone who works there that said they got closed down in a similar way as JRs with the liquor license expiring. I am told they closed on Wednesday and had been operating for some amount of time without a current liquor license. The person I spoke with said they may have to reapply for a liquor license from scratch because the amount of time that lapsed.” (more…)



1025 H Street, NE via The Pursuit Wine Bar & Kitchen

Thanks to Andrés for sending the update on the Pursuit Wine Bar & Kitchen soft opening in their new home at 11th and H Street, NE. This is the space that was once briefly planned for a Two Boots pizza, which bailed back in 2017. The Pursuit Wine Bar originally opened at 1421 H Street, NE back in 2014.
