“To celebrate the new pop-up at The Pug (1234 H St NE), Peregrine Espresso invites friends and neighbors to stop by for free iced and hot coffee between 8am-3pm Thursday, 7/9/20. All retail coffee will be $2 off. ($2 off retail bean offer will extend through Sunday 7/12/20.)

“Seating in the Sidewalk?”

“Dear PoPville,

I understand that business need to reopen and keep things afloat, and a big part of that is outdoor seating. But I walked past Bluestone Lane in Logan Circle this morning and saw these tables in the middle of what I believe is a public sidewalk. Is this legal, and even if it is, isn’t this violating some kind of social distancing rules? There’s no way to get around the tables in a “socially distant” manner if people are sitting there (and if people are also sitting on the benches, which they usually are). Also, it’s just plain annoying to have this in the middle of the sidewalk.”

Ed. Note: I know many establishments were able to apply for extended patios. I’m not 100% sure what’s happening here but from the photo it looks like maybe they placed a separation so that it is safe to walk by in the street?

Peregrine Espresso Closing on 14th Street after 9 years on June 28th

Not since Sparky’s Espresso Cafe closed next door many moons ago has Logan had such terrible coffee news. Thanks to John for sending from Peregrine:

“Next Sunday, June 28, will be our last day on 14th St NW. Our lease is up and the neighborhood rent has outpaced our sales. We are sad to be leaving this great community and our fantastic customers. Thank you for your support for the past nine years!” (more…)
