3426 Connecticut Ave, NW

Update from their website:

A reader reported yesterday afternoon: “I heard a rumor that the famous uptown theatre is closing down. Is this true?? That theatre is famous to anyone who has lived and grew up in Washington DC. From Superman to Star Wars this theatre has been a showplace to many people both in the city and all over the DMV.”

From the AMC Uptown website.

This morning Kathy tweets us: “Oh no! @PoPville! It looks like the Uptown has been shut down suddenly! Drove by it today as well, and everything is down and it is no longer available to search for on AMC’s web site!”

Jonathan tweeted: “Got the unfortunate news that AMC has ceased operation of DC’s iconic Uptown theater – paging any theater chain or group to keep this open”
