Thanks to Heidi for sharing with us:

“I collaborated with Backbone Campaign to project my Stand with Ukraine image on the National Gallery of Art and the Russian Embassy, as part of our public art protest in solidarity with Ukrainian resistance fighters.

Both projections took place on the same day Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the U.S. Congress asking for support.

To help raise funds for humanitarian aid in Ukraine, I’m launching an art fundraiser on my website, with two (so far) sets of limited-edition, signed and numbered, archival art prints for sale. 100% of the profits will go to Sunflower of Peace, a nonprofit organization providing medical and humanitarian aid used by paramedics and doctors in the areas that are affected by the violence in Ukraine. This month Sara from Long Walks DC writes:

“In honor of the approaching peak bloom, I wanted to share some of my favorite cherry blossom murals that can be enjoyed all year long or as an addition/alternative to the crowds around the allergy-inducing trees.

My favorite mural in this group is actually on the ground. Across two basketball courts is a giant portrait of MLK Jr. and his “I Have a Dream” quote that includes cherry blossoms, the Washington Monument and shoutouts to DC statehood. Art was done by @Chrispyrate @oheylil and @thehoopbus in 2020. It can be found in Oxon Run Park near Wheeler Rd & Valley Ave SE” (more…)

From a press release:

“Twenty years after opening an exhibition space in a massive 6,000-square-foot Harlem warehouse, Triple Candie is pleased to announce its latest endeavor, an extremely modest 22-square-foot gallery on Pennsylvania Avenue six blocks from the U.S. Capitol. The new DC space occupies the shallow façade of a green, one-story, mock-Tudor structure that for years was a beloved neighborhood bar. Triple Candie joins Frank’s Place, a sidewalk kiosk run by Frank Lloyd that has been selling hand-drawn portraits, t-shirts, and hats since 1984. (more…)
