“Following DOJ Settlement, Bipartisan 27-AG Coalition Will Keep Fighting to Restore Fair Competition to Live Music Marketplace

Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb released the following statement regarding the ongoing antitrust case against Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, for illegally monopolizing the live entertainment industry and concert ticketing services:

“DC’s live entertainment scene is vital to our local economy and culture, and the recently announced settlement is simply not adequate,” said Attorney General Schwalb. “Live Nation has raked in billions from an illegal monopoly that stifles artists, harms venues, and makes it harder for fans to see the performers they love. We will continue fighting to hold Live Nation accountable and restore competition to the live entertainment industry.”

“Physical Altercation on Bus Downtown – fortunately a young man stepped in”

“Dear PoPville,

This morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., on the D94 bus near 18th Street and H Street NW, a physical altercation broke out between an adult male and an adult female. Everyone on the bus froze in shock, but fortunately a young man stepped in and was able to separate the two. I just wanted to express my gratitude to that young man for his quick instinct and courage.”

ICYMI: The building that fronted 9th Street was home to the legendary A&D Bar which closed back in February 2017.

OH THERE WAS A TIME…

Sundevich opened up in July ’11 in the alley off 9th Street behind 1314 9th St, NW. Sundevich opened their Capitol Hill location on January 1st, 2021. It appears that one will remain open. You can see their legendary menu here.

The lease listing for Sundevich’s Shaw space says:

“945sf one-story brick, flat-roofed box in Shaw’s Blagden Alley/Naylor Court Historic District. Was built as a garage, then was The Dog Wash for 10 years, finally was the original Sundevich, and has been so for the last 15 years. Current tenant is a renowned sandwich shop who has informed us he will vacate the space 3/31/26. (more…)
