“Dear PoPville,

Surprised I’m not seeing this covered in any DC media. Band stops playing at 9:30 club as it’s the only venue on their international tour list that will not accommodate low-income ticket pricing.”

A representative from 9:30 Club writes:

“While we appreciate the intentions, we have a long-standing policy of not discounting tickets, as we want every fan treated fairly and don’t want to make things even more profitable for scalpers.”

“Dear PoPville,

What’s up with the Marshalls in Friendship Heights?? They closed in the middle of day on the 9th with no notice and as of Friday seem to still be closed. First they take away the TJ Maxx (which has been closed for ages) and now this? What gives??” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

DCA terminal D has lost its essence!! They removed the Dunkin, Washington Pour Bar, etc. While yes, the grab and go market and Wow Bo are probably good to go to allow for more seating- will totally miss the chaos of the terminal and having a drink with the best views at DCA. Sad!!”

I don’t know if it’s just because I’m old but this one hits hard. I remember the excitement of when they first opened, which feels not that long ago… 17 years!!

About a week ago Sticky Rice shared the super sad news:

After 17 unforgettable years, Sticky Rice DC is closing its doors. 💔

This decision wasn’t easy. The pandemic, decreased foot traffic, rising food costs, labor costs, and the impact of Initiative 82 have all made it impossible for us to continue. We fought hard—but it’s time to say goodbye. (more…)

Well breath deeply either way…

Prior to Glover Tobacco this space was home to Glover Books & Music, Tennis Zone and most recently a bank ATM.

And now I’m going to wonder the streets trying to remember Glover Books & Music. I may shake a fist or two at the sky. But I’ll be alright. The birds will cheer me up.
