A reader reports:

“Wylie Wagg in Woodley Park is gone. Didn’t seem to last long. They have a sign encouraging customers to visit their location at Idaho And Newark NW.

I know this strip is getting a Nandos and a barbershop soon, but this is another vacant retail space on this strip. The old Pasta Italiana restaurant is still empty (right next to the now vacant Wagg), as is the old Noodles & Company.”

Is the rent too damn high? There is an endless stream of people that walk along that strip.

I don’t know about the rent and there are a lot of people, but many (not all of course) are tourists or convention goers and I think that probably did not help WW. I also hear that some of the Woodley Park people complained because they didn’t have parking (WHAT?!). All I know is that as an Adams Morgan dog owner this was a real bummer for me and especially for my dog. They still have a store in Cathedral Commons, but that may as well be Virginia as far as this carless dog-owner is concerned.

Woodley Park is becoming the new Cleveland Park.

Completely disagree. Cleveland Park offers waaaay better options for dining and entertainment. Never mind that they have an actual market that sells legit food AND a theater. And less tourists and drunk people at 2am stumbling home.

That’s a bummer. The staff were always very friendly, and it was convenient to have a nice pet store nearby, but there were never more than one or two customers in the store when I stopped in.
