Tour of Frederick Douglass Museum in Highland Beach, MD

Thursday Network is kicking off Join Week 2016 with a day trip to the Annapolis, MD area resort town of Highland Beach to tour the summer home of Frederick Douglass.

Date Sunday, January 17, 2016
Time 11:00 am – 5:00 pm EST
Where Frederick Douglass Museum in Annapolis
3200 Wayman Ave
Highland Beach, MD 21403

11:00am: Meet at Greenbelt Metro Station for carpooling
11:00am – 12:00pm: Travel to Frederick Douglass museum in Highland Beach, MD
12:00pm – 1:30pm : Tour of Frederick Douglass museum
1:30pm- 2:00pm: Travel to Main St. in Annapolis, MD.
2:00pm -4:00pm: Lunch at Buddy’s Crab and Ribs
4:00pm-5:00pm: Travel to Greenbelt Metro

Home Movie Day is next Saturday at the Southwest Neighborhood Library from 11-430PM!! Break out your home movies from the closet! Get your parents to put one in the mail!

Mint's "Family" Policy

What’s up with Mint Gym’s new “family” policy that only allows married couples to qualify (see: Here’s the explanation given on the website:”MINT is welcoming of all varieties of families and loving relationships and does not wish to define the term ‘family’…However, the process of applying for the discounted ‘family’ membership requires that the process be fair and definitive, free of subjective judgement. The requirement of a ‘marriage license’ provides one single, factual, legal and consistent method for verifying discount eligibility.”
Huh? Is it 2014? Are we still living in DC? There’s no other way to document one’s “family” than a marriage license?? Neighbors, stand up for ALL families and encourage Mint to change their policy:
