DCity Smokehouse popping up at Wicked Bloom Jan. 11th until new Space Opens

A reader reports:

“I guess DCity permanently closed the FL Ave location on Christmas Eve (I just discovered this when I went to look at the menu online). According to its twitter account [“we OPEN back up, Monday January 11th in our new POP Up spot at 1540 North Capitol St NW”], it sounds like it is re-opening as a pop-up in Wicked Bloom (obviously affiliated) on Jan. 11. It is not clear when it will be moving permanently to the new location though.”

  • I hazily recall April being thrown around as the target date for the new Dcity, but that was over several beers.

  • You guys need to open up shop in Petworth along Georgia Ave or upper 14th.

  • I was at WB last night. They still had about 8 things on the menu, but were slowly taking them off the list. This explains why. Also, for those who haven’t been, you definitely shouldn’t go. It’s not awesome, and it’s best if only the locals go.

    • Tsar of Truxton

That chill/quiet/locals vibe won’t last long. It was rated as one of the top 20 new bars in America (by Thrillist), so the word is out. Couple that with all the DCity traffic moving a few doors down and Wicked Bloom should be a mad house soon.

      • I want to go, but I’ve been kept away by the reluctance to walk or stand anywhere outside that door. I know it’s not terribly far from P&P or the Firehouse, but get a little nervous all the same.

        • The liquor store next door closing has helped a little. And that is all getting redeveloped next door at some point and if rumors are true, Mamo may move on the lot that is across Florida from the old Dcity spot. My hope is in a year or so, you won’t even recognize that entire corner.

  • Does that mean that Wicked Bloom is going to start having a decent menu? I went there thinking that they would serve the same menu as DCity Smokehouse, but they only had a small handful of items on the menu. Plus, I should add that the service was snooty-hipster style and not attentive.
