Our Story: Faces of Suffrage, Portraits of Change is an interactive photo mosaic and art installation depicting a portrait of suffragist and civil rights activist Ida B. Wells. Created by artist Helen Marshall of the People’s Picture, commissioned by the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, and produced by Christina Korp, Purpose Entertainment, Our Story commemorates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and women’s right to vote in the United States. From August 24 to 28, 2020, a large-scale installation of the photo mosaic will be on display in the Main Hall at Union Station. (more…)

“Got a call today from an order I placed on Sunday with Jos A Bank in Union Station. As their parent company announced bankruptcy and store closing plan the other day, they gave me a call to tell me my order has been moved to another store, and they are shortly closing their Union Station location. Sad to see the large number of store closures within Union Station.”

From WMATA:

“Metro General Manager Paul J. Wiedefeld today accepted a recommendation of the transit authority’s Pandemic Task Force that face coverings or masks be required when traveling on Metro effective Monday, May 18. The move strengthens Metro’s position on the matter, which has “strongly recommended” the use of face coverings since early April, in accordance with CDC guidance. While the overwhelming majority of riders already comply voluntarily, the requirement is viewed as a necessary step as Metro plans for an eventual recovery with more riders using the system.
