“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced PARK(ing) Day 2024 will be held on Friday, September 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The popular event temporarily converts on-street parking spaces into pop-up parks allowing people to visualize and explore alternative uses for curb space. Since 2013, the success of this event has led to the creation of more permanent public space activation programs, such as DDOT’s Parklet Program and Streatery Program.

In tandem with PARK(ing) Day, DDOT is installing new streatery structures in Adams Morgan on 18th Street NW between Columbia Road and Kalorama Road, in partnership with the Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) and 33 small businesses. (more…)


Thanks to all who passed on the streateries update from the Adams Morgan BID this morning:

“We are excited to partner with District Department of Transportation, Mayor Bowser, and 33 neighborhood businesses on a new streatery pilot program in #AdamsMorgan (18th St NW between Kalorama and Columbia Rds NW). Demolition of existing streateries is occurring this week and installation of the new structures will begin September 16. Completion of the new streateries will occur on or before September 27. “The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) announced the five recipients of its inaugural Streatery Assistance Grant Program. Launched on April 20, 2022, the program was developed by the BID to provide restaurants within its boundary with funds to assist in the creation of a new curbside dining space, or to help pay for improvements to an existing streatery or parklet.
