The Bell Tolls for Many Streateries Soon – Keeping Track of Which Ones Which Remain

“Dear PoPville,

Would be so cool if you started keeping track of who’s planning to close their streateries on Nov 1 (or really, I guess a list of what few will remain).

They’re key to the Adams Morgan, Mt Pleasant, and Georgetown corridors (among others) and I and a lot of other people are only waking up to how they’re just going to disappear (and probably tip even more restaurants into closing).

WJLA reported:

In Adams Morgan, which currently has 33 streateries, only three plan to continue under the new rules. In Georgetown, just 10 of 67 streateries would meet the updated requirements. Restaurants must also comply with safety and accessibility standards and pay a public space fee, roughly $20 per square foot, depending on location.”

(the rule was proposed last year, public comment closed June 2)”

Will definitely update as we learn which streateries remain after November. If you know of ones that remain open past November please let us know via email at [email protected] or on our socials @PoPville Thanks!
