Luigi the Russian Tortoise is Loose in Spring Valley. He was spotted near here (49th St near Upton.) Luigi is young and fast.
We are worried he will fall in gutter or hide under cars.”

“Walked by the large tree in Dupont Circle yesterday that was severely damaged during the wild storm we had on 9/3.
The tree is still alive, and to protect it’s remaining bark, notes and memories are being diverted to an online tribute website – a very professional one at that. “The Old Oak of Dupont” now even has a stylized font and logo!” (more…)

N Street between 10 and 11th NW
“Dear PoPville,
Every day I walk my dog I see new shattered car windows – and this happened to my car the same week the national guard started to patrol the city last year.
Here we are more than a year later and I still see the cops talking to people who’ve called 911 because they’re experiencing the very same thing on the same block. Just saw it again.
I’ve attached photos of fresh glass shards, and my car window’s shards from a year ago that are still living in the tree pit just steps away. (more…)

An upgrade or downgrade?

“A new way to find your way
Metro is introducing a new Metro Rail wayfinding system designed to make traveling clearer and more consistent. It has been carefully designed to honor the legacy our region inherited 50 years ago.
The new system begins rolling out with the first signs installed at L’Enfant Plaza in September 2026. By the end of October, customers will see a fully restored station with updated signs and navigation information.
Metro plans to bring the new wayfinding system to five more stations over the next six months. (more…)
