Yesterday we learned that the Uprising Muffin Company was closing their brick and mortar location outside the Shaw metro at the end of the month. I have now learned from a very good source (92% accuracy rating) that an &pizza will be taking over the space. If true – good news or bad news?
2443 18th Street, NW
Following the opening Rosario’s Tacos & Tequila, comes word of more potential taco options for Adams Morgan. Almost exactly a year ago Rumba Cafe closed after almost 20 years in Adams Morgan. Now I hear that a “Mexican concept” is coming to the space. I give this scuttlebutt an 80% accuracy rating. STAY TUNED.

Continuing our series I’m 97% Sure You’re Getting a Wawa with an Adams Morgan edition! I’m not exactly sure of the location but it’s pretty much a lock for Adams Morgan. So dance/denounce depending on your perspective. Updates as soon as we learn the exact location.

Or so I’m told. Back in May I shared some scuttlebutt that a Japanese concept from the owners of Chaplin’s was coming to the former Shaw’s Bijou/French Quarter Brasserie space. French Quarter Brasserie closed in January and Shaw Bijou closed in January of 2017. Chaplin’s is located down the street at 9th and P Street, NW and opened back in 2014. I know hear it’ll be called Zeppelin and should open in a couple of months. STAY TUNED.

Last week we broke the news that 100 Montaditos had closed after 3.5 years in Navy Yard. Now I hear (95% accuracy rating) that Ramen is coming. No word on hookahs. STAY TUNED.
8th and T Street, NW
Update from the owner of All Souls:
“All Souls will be opening a new concept in The Apollo building on H Street, NE. The space will be located through the alley next to WeWork on 7th Street and will be called The Little Grand. While this is a new concept, we will not venture too far from what we do at All Souls, using the highest quality ingredients, maintaining affordable prices and trying to give the best service possible. The other similarity is The Little Grand will be a small, simple bar serving craft beer, cocktails, and wine but with the added bonus of pizza. We are very excited to be part of H Street and the Apollo community.” (more…)
5405 Georgia Avenue, NW looking south towards Macombo Lounge at Jefferson Street
Back in December we shared some mouth watering Scuttlebutt that the folks from Bloomingdale’s Showtime Bar, across the street from Boundary Stone on Rhode Island Ave., had plans to open up a second spot in Brightwood Park on Georgia Ave (photo above.) [Showtime opened in Bloomingdale back in 2013 and is perennially placed on all the ‘best of’ lists around town.] A week ago I reported that Neptune Room was coming to 5405 Georgia Avenue, NW and because the liquor license placard listed the prolific Andrew Kline as attorney, I suspected this might be the rumored Showtime spot. And now a local food blog confirms it is indeed the Showtime folks: “Team Showtime confirmed”.

Details are scarce but a tipster sends word that Dangerously Delicious Pies is planning on opening up a bar on their 2nd floor with a roof deck!! We’ve emailed DDP for details and will updates when we learn more.
Dangerously Delicious Pies opened up on H Street back in 2010 and renovated in 2016.

Word on the street is that a Little Sesame could be taking over the former Pidzza space next to the coming Spice-6 Indian fast casual in the former On Rye space. Ed. Note: Spice-6 looks super closer to opening.
Little Sesame is also coming to the former Veloce space downtown. Updates when/if more is known.
