I never found their physical space to be the problem. It’s a bummer, too, because I love pies.

Are they having a pi-day special? It is 3.14 after all!

I feel like such a weirdo, but I’ve never been a fan of their pies. I just can’t get past how flavorless their crusts are.

    • Philippe Lecheval

I thought it was only me. They range from disappointing to inedible. Though if you love the taste of hype, they’re probably much more satisfying.

      • On Capital Heels

Lol!! “The taste of hype” — very clever!

    • el

yeah I don’t get the hype either.

Nah, this page will be 90 percent negative before all is said and done. I’ve only had their ratatouille pie, which I thought was good and fed my wife and me for a weekend.

I love the SMOG but I understand – I have occasionally had something there and felt that there was a little too much crust. The filling to crust ration needs to be right or you just end up wondering why you paid to eat crust.

      • Hill Denizen

It isn’t so much the quantity as the taste. I usually save the crust for last, I love it so much, but this was tasteless. They probably use shortening for all or part of the fat. While that holds its shape better and provides some flakiness, it tastes like nothing. An all butter crust, gently handled and chilled is plenty flaky and will hold its shape quite well though it’s probably harder to mass produce.

    • You’re not a weirdo. Most of the comments anytime they get mentioned here tend towards negative or apathy. Yelp reviews mirror that as well. I’ve liked several of their pies, some have been OK, but all I feel are overpriced for what you get.

      The Baltimore Bomb is undeniable.

      And undercooked.

Thanks for the shout out! Happy to be re-open in our H st home. Thanks to our popville supporters! Much love.

Hey DDP! Thanks for being an awesome part of the community. Thanks for giving me and my band a place to practice and for donating pies to my kids school every year. Don’t let the popville hate get to ya. The pies keep getting better and better IMO. Keep up the good work.

    • Excited to give them a try!!!

  • jesse

Love their new space and love their 3.14…s

  • chellefish

I’m always excited on the mornings when the DDP truck parks in front of my office building. Keep ’em coming! Haven’t been to the new space yet but am hopeful that there’s at least one lady musician represented on the walls along with all those dudes. Save the sausage fest for the savory pies!
