“On April 15, local hospitality innovators Eric and Ian Hilton will officially debut Skybox (1400 14th Street NW), their new 2,490-square-foot rooftop bar that boasts a stunning, nearly 360-degree panoramic view of Logan Circle and beyond. Located atop the brothers’ popular Players’ Club — an ode to 70s and 80s video games, music and culture — Skybox is also a nostalgic nod to the D.C. of yesteryear. Read More

Back in February we first learned about Rito Loco’s roof deck plans. They’re really far along now. I’m told they could be open in just a few weeks if not sooner. Also stand by for an upgrade to their menu – I’m hearing paella could be in the mix. In the meantime – see how the deck is shaping up:

Ivy and Coney’s new retractable roof deck is almost done. It took a little longer than expected (and obviously finishing touches are ongoing) but it turned pretty damn nice. There’s a pool table under this tarp:

From the owners of Bar Pilar:
“On Friday, October 2nd, placards were posted at Bar Pilar. We are exploring the opportunity to expand the restaurant to include a roof deck bar area with additional outside seating. Plans for the expansion are still in the very early stages.
Bar Pilar has been a part of the 14th Street community for the past decade, and we take the responsibility of being good neighbors very seriously. We invite our neighbors in the 14th Street corridor to join us at 6pm the evening of November 15th upstairs at the restaurant for an informational open house, where we will happily share plans for the project as it stands now and address any questions or concerns at that time.
In the meantime, we look forward to continuing to provide a great neighborhood spot to eat, drink and gather with friends.”

From an email:
“Sauf Haus is currently working on adding a retractable roof to the biergarten. Best part is that it’s on track to be completed by the first day of Oktoberfest!
We’re looking forward to being able to provide some comfortable, toasty, rooftop bier drinking throughout the fall/winter season.
It’s also great news for residents in DuPont as noise levels have been a concern, particularly with bars in the Golden Triangle area. The covered roof will contain much of the noise that may overflow–this was a big motivating factor in the owners’ decision as they’re working hard to become part of the neighborhood and not just another bar on the strip.
Designer Adam Ford (@glassdesigns) of Rollacover created the design, he’s also designed retractable roofs for the Argonaut, Jack Rose, Ivy & Coney and Red Rocks on H Street.
Also worth noting–we recently added wall to wall air ducts the blow some serious cool air on the roof so guests can enjoy the outdoor weather comfortably.”

Ivy and Coney’s retractable roof deck is almost done! If all goes well it should be completed by the end of the month. Stay tuned for an opening “Gala” with proceeds going to support nearby Bread for the City.
