“Omg this is awesome! If you have to get your vehicle emissions inspected I would recommend the kiosk at 300 Van Buren Street, NW. Definitely faster than the station near Nats Stadium. Just manually enter the VIN and the whole process is 10 minutes! More people should know about this!!”

“Dear PoPville,

The guy in this photo is pretending to be a fire system inspector. In the middle of our busiest time at Pearl’s Bagels [Saturday} AM this man came in and told our manager that he was there to inspect our fire suppression system and update the tags on our vent hood. He had our manager call us, and when he got off the phone he lied to them and said that we had forgotten to let them know that he was coming, handed them 4 bills, and told them that Oliver said to just pay the bills via cash in the safe. They were busy and flustered and paid him without confirming that we’d said this. The bills totaled $947 dollars.

We realized it was a scam when they told us they’d paid him cash, and when we looked at the bill we realized it’s a phony company with a fake address.

DO NOT PAY THIS MAN ANY MONEY!!”

From the National Gallery of Art:

“DC’s favorite summer concert series is back! Every Friday, from May 19 through August 4, our Sculpture Garden will come alive with musical performances including jazz, Latin fusion, bluegrass, and more.

This season captures the breadth of the American musical experience with Latin fusion from ¡Tumbao! on May 26, zydeco from Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas on June 23, Indigenous fusion from D’DAT on June 30, and funk and soul from the 8 Ohms Band on July 28. Another highlight is a special Juneteenth celebration concert with the Muneer Nasser Quintet on June 16, one of seven local acts this year.

Due to high demand, we are instituting a free lottery system so that anyone interested in attending Jazz in the Garden has an equal chance to participate. Each concert will have its own lottery, which will open the week prior on Monday at 10:00 a.m. and close that Friday at noon. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I just wanted to remind folks to be wary of people coming to their door asking for your Pepco account number. Last night I had someone from Inspire Energy come to my door trying to get me to switch to their green energy supplier. He told me that if I didn’t switch to a green energy source I would have two fees added to my Pepco bill, and this door-to-door visit was my “final notice.” (more…)
