I recently received a ticket in the mail for running a red light. It wasn’t even close. All three traffic lights in the intersection were green. Image attached. I was about to pay it until my wife spotted the green lights. Please check your tickets carefully! There are major flaws in the DC photo enforcement system.”

“ABC-licensed establishments are required to take reasonable steps to ascertain whether a person they sell, serve, or deliver an alcoholic beverage is of legal drinking age. DC law does not prohibit a minor from sitting with an adult person within an establishment.”

On Saturday, we were kicked out of a restaurant in Chinatown after the manager prevented us from sitting at the bar, arguing that our 4 months old baby is under the age allowed to drink!! After we agreed to sit in the restaurant side instead, and walked towards the restaurant bar, he said that we cannot sit with a baby in a bar, only at the tables which were 3 feet away. When we argued that it is absurd, he kicked us out. Shame on them.”

We’ve expressed our love for Mi Cuba Cafe over and over again. For good reason. It is a gem. Hard for some to fathom but it is quite possible to love them AND a completely different restaurant coming to the neighborhood – Taco Bell Cantina (and of course, the many other nearby places where you can get authentic tacos.) Hard to digest for some. Having said that, lest we take the awesomeness we already have for granted, allow me to remind you about them so we can enjoy them for many years to come. Los Hermanos too of course (some say one of Juan Soto’s favorites.)

How does Getaround work?
Getaround is an app that allows consumers to rent vehicles by the hour or day from owners who make them available through its online platform. Consumers can create a profile on Getaround and search for cars based on location and type of vehicle. After a rental request is submitted and approved by the owner, consumers can go to the car’s location and unlock the vehicle using the app on their smartphone. To the neighbor who left their fake Christmas tree on the curbside on our street…There’s a reason why yours is the only tree that didn’t get picked up!
I reported it to DC through online 311 but people should know better. Ha! Please help spread the word to other people who chuck their fake trees and expect them to be picked up.”
Ed. Note: Why are people chucking fake trees anyway, I thought the whole beauty was that you could reuse them every year?

“Dear PoPville,
I saw a car park this weekend at the end of a block at 3rd and I St NE and get a ticket with 30 min for being too close to the stop sign at the end of the street. That car was then towed away only a few hours later only to have another car park in the “spot” a few minutes later.
DC law is you have to park at least 25 feet short of a stop sign but there is no sign marking the distance or staying no parking in this location. (more…)
