“Dear PoPville,
I saw a car park this weekend at the end of a block at 3rd and I St NE and get a ticket with 30 min for being too close to the stop sign at the end of the street. That car was then towed away only a few hours later only to have another car park in the “spot” a few minutes later.
DC law is you have to park at least 25 feet short of a stop sign but there is no sign marking the distance or staying no parking in this location. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
My boyfriend and I were followed and harassed by a homeless man last night around the Logan/Dupont area. The encounter was rather aggressive and continuously escalated – with him blocking our path, trying to get my boyfriend to give him money from the ATM, and yelling and cursing at us until we managed to run away and call the cops. “We will conduct air exercise Falcon Virgo Thurs-Fri in D.C. with flights scheduled between midnight and 5:30 a.m. Eastern
The exercise includes F-16, UC-35A, MH-65D and a Cessna 182T aircraft. Some portions of the exercise could involve flights at approximately 2,500′”

“Dear PoPville,
DC now requires all recycling to be loose and all recycling in plastic bags is thrown out. Private companies pick up the recycling from apartment buildings, but they still have to follow DC regulations. If you live in an apartment building and your recyclables go into a large container (“dumpster”), it’s most likely they still need to be loose. Some companies allow clear bags (but not grocery bags) for large quantities of recycling. Black bags are always considered trash, regardless of which bin they are in. (more…)

“Metro will make it easy for riders to get to the Smithsonian National Zoo to say bye-bye to Bei Bei, the zoo’s beloved giant panda. Free shuttle buses will drop-off and pick-up customers at the zoo’s entrance while three Red Line stations (Cleveland Park, Woodley Park and Dupont Circle) are closed for major lighting upgrades this weekend. I work at a office on 22nd and K and for the past month or so I have noticed a elderly gentleman asking for “change for a $20″. Obviously noting it was a scam because of the frequency I see him/hear him ask. I still see so many folks lose $19 dollars to this man daily.”

Alas a reader rightly pointed out it is very likely somebody with mental health issues.
We’ve reported similar upsetting incidents back in 2018. Good reminder to check under the handles real quick tho.

“The Visitor Parking Pass (VPP) program is designed to allow guests of District residents to park for more than two hours on Residential Permit Parking or RPP-zoned blocks. A VPP is only valid during the hours of RPP enforcement and in the same RPP zone and ANC boundary as the residence. The passes are not necessary on holidays or other times when parking restrictions are not subject to enforcement.
