There’s some sort of scammer on Q between 17th and 18th leaving this sticky note on cars saying that they hit them and want to work something out? The sticky notes are all printed the exact same, not handwritten. Saw the same sticky note on 4 cars in this block.”

With all the posts about how hard it is to get an appointment at the DC DMV, I had to share that you can register your car without going to the DMV!
Back in November, I bought a used car from an auto shop in Maryland who could not process DC tags. I haven’t owned a car since living in DC, so I had to go to the DMV to get tags before I could take it off the lot. Like many readers, getting an appointment was IMPOSSIBLE.
So I did some digging and learned that you can title/register/tag/etc. your car at tag and title shops in the area. (more…)

“Amid ongoing pandemic-related budget constraints, Metro today announced upcoming changes to its lost and found procedures to reduce administrative costs so the agency can continue to prioritize its core mission: providing safe and reliable transportation for the region.
Beginning March 1, Metro’s lost and found department will work to reunite customers with lost wallets and electronics (such as phones, tablets, and laptops) only. All other items lost in the system will be disposed of, donated to charity, destroyed, or auctioned. (more…)

A guy frequently walks his two dogs around Logan Circle. I have never seen the dogs on leash. One of them ran up to my dog, and the guy did nothing. What if my dog were anxious or reactive? It’s impossible to walk a dog past them because they take up the entire sidewalk. If you want to walk your dogs off leash, move to a farm.”
From the Department of Health: “No person owning, keeping, or having custody of a dog in the District shall permit the dog to be on any public space in the District, other than a dog park established by section 9a of the Animal Control Act of 1979, passed on 2nd reading on September 20, 2005 (Enrolled version of Bill 16-28), unless the dog is firmly secured by a substantial leash. Since the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines, I’ve noticed increasing numbers of people walking around without masks. Today, a maskless woman stood within 6 inches of me while talking. When I said something to her, she replied, “I’m vaccinated.” I politely told her that being vaccinated doesn’t mean she shouldn’t still wear a mask. She insisted I was wrong and called me illiterate. I got a scam call last week from someone claiming to be a MPD officer. He claimed I had failed to appear for jury duty, and that legal action would be taken against me if I wasn’t able to prove that I’d never received the summons letter, which he claimed had been signed by me (I never got such a letter).
He seemed really legit and used real-sounding jargon. He had info about me, such as my age and address. (more…)

My son and I were at the Stanton Park playground Saturday a little before noon. As always on the weekend, there were probably 5-6 families enjoying the sun and getting out of the house while following proper mask/distancing protocols.
