“Dear PoPville,
I saw your story about Francis Stevens pool being closed for the few months it is open in the summer – announced on May 24, a week before it was to open. That was just infuriating – that the city could not have determined what repairs needed to be done and did them between September of last year and May of this year, and notifying residents a week before it was to open.
Now today I went to go swimming at the Dunbar pool and there was a sign that said that the Dunbar pool is closed for the summer season starting June 17. WTF? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
On Thursday 6/16, I headed to Brookland to swim with a dear friend at Turkey Thicket Pool. After completing an awesome hour-long swim workout, I discovered that my pool locker with a combination-number lock was broken into (they cut the lock) and all my personal belongings stolen, including my driver’s license, credit card, house keys, and most importantly a hearing aid that I need in order to hear since I’m deaf. “Dear PoPville,
Just curious: has DCPR announced when outdoor pools will open? I’m not seeing anything on the website and I don’t want to assume it’s Memorial Day.”

“Dear PoPville,
I swam in college and have tried to keep up with swimming as one of my primary forms of exercise, but I really miss swimming with other people. When I lived near AU I swam with the master’s team that trains there and it was great. Now I live in the U St area and haven’t been able to figure out an official or unofficial group of people to swim with. One of my roommates found a great listserv/Facebook group of tennis players and I wonder if there’s something similar for swimming either for the U St area or DC as a whole.”
