“Mayor Muriel Bowser has declared a Snow Emergency for Washington, DC. The Snow Emergency will remain in effect through at least the end of the day on Tuesday, January 7.
While the snow emergency is in effect, motorists may not park on snow emergency routes and vehicles parked on these routes may be towed. (more…)

We first posted about this on November 12th.

It first appeared on 11/21. And I’ll give it a little bit of time, maybe they were loading/unloading and I get it. I don’t get mad at the delivery folks who stop in front of it. But that Friday morning was a big nope for me.
After three days of reporting it (by then it had one ticket and a “Gone on Arrvial”) and it still there, I had enough. Really it was the “GOA” that did it for me. Fuck you, Parking Enforcment, if you “can’t see it” I will help you see it. (more…)

“Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced the launch of the new Greater U Street Performance Parking Zone, which begins December 17, 2024. This initiative, developed in alignment with legislation enacted by the DC Council in the 2023 Budget Support Act (Bill 50-2538), introduces a more streamlined curbside parking experience designed to manage congestion and improve curb availability. Update: “Alley cleaning is different. Our street cleaning definitely went until October 31”

Has DPW quietly changed street sweeping to end October 1 (as opposed to Oct 31) without telling anyone? All the street signs say street seeping goes through October 31, but I just saw this today:
“DPW works to clean streets and alleys from the first Monday in April through September 30th. Alley cleaning is suspended from October 1st through March 31st. Alley Cleaning Services include cleaning up loose litter, debris, glass, gravel, sand, and liquid spills in the alley”

Over the summer as part of the installation of bike lanes on 11th Street NW in downtown, DDOT and DPW inexplicably removed disabled parking spaces on the north and south sides of the 1000 block of F Street NW, where no bike lanes were added. They moved the “no parking” signs so that the disabled spaces are now in no parking zones. Except they left the red disabled-only parking meters, (more…)
