ICYMI: Here are the Street Closures and Parking Restrictions for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration Starting Saturday (with maps.)

From Alert DC:
“On Saturday, January 18, 2025, street closures and parking restrictions will begin for the 2025 Presidential Inauguration that motorists should take into consideration. District residents and business owners are asked to plan for widespread road closures across Downtown Washington. Most roads within the perimeter, bounded by the Potomac River to the west, K Street NW to the north, Second Street NE/SE to the east, and I-395/I-695 to the south will be closed or restricted residential traffic only. Watch: Why I will be attending the inauguration on Monday.
From an email blast:
“I want to take a moment to share why, despite my personal feelings, I have decided to attend the 60th presidential inauguration as a councilmember representing Washington, DC.
In politics, we all know that sometimes your side wins, and sometimes your side loses. That’s the nature of democracy. The incoming president holds deeply different views and values from mine, and I believe his leadership could harm the people and institutions I love and respect. From the Mayor’s Office:
“Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and federal partners shared information about preparations for the 60th Presidential Inauguration, taking place on Monday, January 20, 2025 in the District of Columbia. The inauguration is a National Special Security Event (NSSE), a classification that brings federal and local partners together under the lead of the United States Secret Service. The NSSE designation allows significant federal, state, and local resources to be deployed, ensuring a robust security plan. District public safety agencies and federal partners have spent nearly a year developing the inaugural security plan. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Any idea when the fencing will come down?”
From Deputy Mayor John J. Falcicchio Wednesday:
“We are told that breakdown will start in earnest at 6 pm and will likely take about 36 hours.
That aligns with the end of the Inauguration Pause on indoor dining which is set to expire on Friday, January 22, at 5 am. Restaurants will then be able to return to 25% indoor. (more…)
