“Dear PoPville,
This is the first snowstorm that I’ve experienced as a DC driver. As I soon found out, [Ed. Note: Sign up for our free daily newsletter round up and never miss a post. It could save you a $250 fine :)] if you park on a snow emergency route then you’re getting fined $250.
Live and learn. I I found out about these tickets via the DC DMV’s Ticket Alert Service, which is supposed to provide you with notification of a citation so you don’t repeat the same violation and get fined twice.
The problem was that I got two e-mails — both dated Jan 7 at 4:30 am — for fines from Jan 5 and Jan 6. Should I be held responsible for the second ticket? Is there a legitimate argument to be made that the automated system failed to alert me in time for the first citation?“
