It’s becoming a bloodbath. This is becoming worse than the Quiznos cull of ’14. Thanks to Anita for sending from the “H and north cap location NW.” Updates, as always, when we learn who takes over the space.

736 6th Street, NW
Thanks to Allegra Harpootlian for sending: “Good Wednesday surprise: Little Sesame is being built right across the street from my office.”
Back in May we posted some scuttlebutt that a Little Sesame was coming to the former Pidzza space next to the recently opened Spice-6 Indian fast casual in the former On Rye space. Boom!
Little Sesame opened in the the former Veloce space back in late August and have had lines ever since. Check out their menu here and stay tuned for an exact opening date in Chinatown.

Thanks to Brianna for sending:
“Are ABP and Panera owned by the same company? Bummed ABP is closing at the Reagan Building. Love its morning oatmeal bar.”

1990 M Street, NW
That was fast! The former Pizza Hut space has already been transformed. Thanks to Leah, Mona, and Ben for sending the news that Kung Fu Tea and Tang (Noodle Soup) have opened Next door to Nagomi Izakaya.
Kung Fu Tea opened their first D.C. location in Georgetown last year. You can see their menu here and story here.
Peep Tang’s menu after the jump. (more…)

Thanks to Shubha J for sending:
“L’Enfant Plaza eatery update: Rice Bar to replace Pie Five, which closed many months ago.”
What’s the best, current, lunch option in L’Enfant?
Ed. Note: Rice Bar also has D.C. locations at 1206 G St NW, 1015 15th St NW, 1020 19th St NW, 600 Maryland Ave SW and 409 3rd St SW. You can see their full menus here.

1214 18th Street, NW
Good news for chicken heads. My sources deep in the fast casual chicken world have a juicy tidbit for us today – Chick-Fil-A cometh to 18th Street. I’m hearing 1214 18th Street, NW (near Nando’s buckle up son) and Eighth Street Lounge, Shake Shack etc. It’s not clear exactly which space it’s taking, not sure if the Rabbit Hole fell through or if the Eritrean Cultural & Civic Center is being split. These spaces were formerly home to MIA Lounge, Lupe Mexican Cantina and Sesto Senso
Anyway I give this scuttlebutt an 87% accuracy rating.
STAY TUNED.

1331 L Street, NW
Matt Friedman reports yesterday:
“Pizza Autentica on L Street is closed. I saw them taking the sign down yesterday.”
Pizza Autentica opened up on L Street back in 2009.

Neighborhood naming controversy aside – Ryan reports:
“Game changer…Soon to open Navy Yard Whole Foods has a covered patio with outdoor TVS”
I feel like we may be setting the bar a bit too low for game changing..though it could be a cool spot for lunch. T-9 days to opening.

1720 14th Street, NW
While their balls have not yet dropped, there is light at the end of this tunnel. I’m told they are “shooting to open Tuesday or Wednesday” of next week.
Again, this is very very good news.
This is the former Cork space.
Check out The Meatball Shop’s NYC menus here.
Sign looks cool lit up – fingers crossed for next week:
