“Metro today announced service adjustments for Metrorail and Metrobus to accommodate the expanded security perimeter that will be in effect for Inauguration beginning Friday, January 15 through Thursday, January 21.
Metro will close 13 stations inside the security perimeter, with 11 stations closing on Friday and two additional stations on Saturday and continuing through the end of service on Thursday. During this time trains will pass through the closed stations without stopping. (more…)

Stefanie (and others) report this morning: “Downtown DC really locked up (assuming for Inauguration prep etc) – can’t go south of Gallery Place from at least 6th as far west as I can tell. I had a heck of a time getting to 395 this morning.”

Thankfully I spotted this sign at the Florida Avenue Grill at 11th and Florida. I am very seriously tempted to purchase this one though…
I think the one above from Quigley Brown really captures the moment perfectly. Tears of joy and tears of remembering the trauma this country and it’s people went through to get to this historical moment. Beautiful and extremely powerful. Congrats Quigley. Honorable mentions after the jump. (more…)
