2007 14th Street, NW

Marvin opened up back in 2007 and has been one of 14th/U Street’s top destinations ever since. I’ve been hearing tons of rumors about Marvin not reopening (the plywood doesn’t help.) But I’m happy to say that I hear these are false reports. I hear that there is likely to be a renovation and they should reopen when that’s completed or sometime when we get to phase three. Whew and stay tuned.

Update: Jessica Sidman tweets:

“FYI it’s not permanently closed. Talked to owner Jamie Leeds who says she’s working with the landlord on a “wait and see situation.” She says it doesn’t make sense to open now given the restaurant’s size and shape.”

I still think it’s odd to remove the whole Capitol Hill presence from their website. I do hope they are able to reopen, of course.

Thanks to Brian (and others) for sending:

“Per Hank’s website all locations have reopened minus Capitol Hill.

Has Hank’s abandoned their Capitol Hill location? There is no mention of this location opening or closing on social media.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Across the Pond is reopening this Tuesday. They revamped their menu, have a new, cheaper happy hour from 3PM to 8PM and will be taking reservations. If anyone wants a spot to watch afternoon EPL matches that follows all of the DC phase 2 guidelines, this is a great place to go! The service is always great too.

Food menu here and drinks menu here.

Reopening on July 14! (more…)

Damn it. I loved window shopping at Cherub Antiques Gallery. Their website says:

Our storefront is closing after 36 years. We will be open Thurs.-Sat., July 2-Aug. 1, 12-5 p.m. and by appt. (more…)

Thanks to Joan for sending: “Just wanted to share that Reveler’s Hour in Adams Morgan is opening a wine and sandwich shop. Neat for the neighborhood!”

Reveler’s Hour’s website also says:

“We’re excited to serve you in person. We’ll be offering dinner Wednesday through Sunday. Reservations are recommended due to our limited seating capacity, but feel free to try for a walk-in table if you’re in the neighborhood.”
