My mother (over 65) is in the process of moving to this area from Iowa. I had a baby in early December, so my mother sold her house in Iowa and arrived in this area in November in order to be available to help us out. She is currently staying in an empty condo in Maryland owned by a friend. (more…)

I went and got tested at Judiciary Square last week I noticed they’re now using Curative tests. The next day I saw these headlines so just wanted to lift.”

“The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is alerting patients and health care providers of the risk of false results, particularly false negative results, with the Curative SARS-Cov-2 test. Risks to a patient of a false negative result include: delayed or lack of supportive treatment, lack of monitoring of infected individuals and their household or other close contacts for symptoms resulting in increased risk of spread of COVID-19 within the community, or other unintended adverse events.” (more…)

“Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that beginning today, Monday, January 11, DC residents aged 65 and older are able to make an appointment to get the COVID-19 vaccine through the vaccinate.dc.gov portal or by calling the District’s coronavirus call center (1-855-363-0333). Residents will be able to schedule a vaccination through the call center Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Additionally, residents can get connected to the call center by dialing 311. “My name is Nicholas Olivas and I am the Chef/Owner of Gonzo. I was born and raised in San Gabriel Valley, California. In 2005 I attended culinary school and landed my first job cooking. Since then I have moved from the west coast to the east and have been fortunate enough to work at amazing places such as Fifth Floor, Corton, Torrisi, and Pineapple and Pearls, all michelin star restaurants. For the last 15 years I have been cooking with some amazing chefs and ingredients that anyone would be proud of. I committed my life to a craft that I found was not only extremely challenging but incredibly rewarding. Cooking is something that you can study your whole life and still learn something new on a daily basis. This is the reason why I choose and continue to love my profession.
When covid started, restaurants got their fair share of problems. People were laid off, restaurants closed and whatever food was still available was take-out. For me, I considered it a responsibility as well as an opportunity to venture out on my own. Understanding the hard times we all had to endure, I knew that opening a business during this time would be risky. In doing so, I would be able to create a place where covid is taken into consideration and wouldn’t affect the quality of food. (more…)
