From WMATA:

“Metro General Manager Paul J. Wiedefeld today accepted a recommendation of the transit authority’s Pandemic Task Force that face coverings or masks be required when traveling on Metro effective Monday, May 18. The move strengthens Metro’s position on the matter, which has “strongly recommended” the use of face coverings since early April, in accordance with CDC guidance. While the overwhelming majority of riders already comply voluntarily, the requirement is viewed as a necessary step as Metro plans for an eventual recovery with more riders using the system. From a press release:

“Two of DC’s most acclaimed dining and drinking destinations — The Imperial and Jack Rose Dining Saloon – are the city’s newest take-out options starting this Friday, May 15. The Imperial, which was billed as one of DC’s hottest new restaurants in its four months of operation before COVID, has launched carry-out for the first time after an 8-week closure, and Jack Rose has introduced a brand new menu of to-go food, meal kits, ready-to-drink cocktails and at-home beverage kits. Both restaurants will offer their menus for pre-order via Tock, Wednesday through Sunday, starting on 5/15. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We’re looking to do outdoor day trips/hikes but having a hard time finding options or actually what is open.I’m assuming people aren’t sharing bc they don’t want it to get crowded but is there a way to check easily? Each park site is confusing and I don’t know what is closed?”

“Dear PoPville,

This morning I took my dog out and noticed a couple penny’s on our front stoop. We checked the security camera from last night and it captured this person who stopped and abruptly threw penny’s onto our stoop. Were we marked by some bizarre penny cult? I’d be curious what stories Popville readers might come up with for why this happened. These are weird times.”

“Dear PoPville,

Interesting guidance coming from the Y. This is the first I’ve heard that members would be required to wear a mask when working out. I support this but I imagine some will complain. I don’t think I would have problems wearing a mask when working out but maybe that’s a sign I don’t work out that hard?”

From Granville Moore’s:

“First of all, we want to thank everyone for their support over the past few months – it has been overwhelming!
Unfortunately, unlike our sister restaurant, The Queen Vic, we have been unable to open in any capacity since March 17th because the Granville Moore’s menu is not take-out friendly.

We have spent the past month thinking of ideas about the best way to re-open to give our staff some work and to offer something that our neighborhood will love.

So although we are sad that we have to retire our Belgian Pub concept for now, we are super excited about a brand new concept that we plan to roll out for delivery and pick up on May 26th for a trial period. (more…)
