Thanks to Kelsey for sending: “Tail Up Goat will be opening up on Friday for take out”. Their website says:

“Over four-plus years of business, we’ve proudly served our community through thick and thin, personal triumph and tragedy, national turmoil and peaceful protest. As we re-open for contactless takeout and delivery in the midst of global pandemic, we continue to seek out ways to nourish our guests physically and emotionally.

We closed for eight weeks in the interest of public health, and we remain dedicated to ensuring the safest workplace possible for our staff. We continue to practice social distancing throughout our space and are implementing the strictest possible protocols to ensure the safety of our product and the continued good health of everyone involved in bringing it to you.

We’re offering a fully prepared meal ready for pick-up or delivery with instructions for re-warming whenever you’re ready to eat. (more…)

Thanks to John for sending from Momofuku:

“To our Momofuku teams,

I want to start by saying that I hope you and your families are safe. This crisis has been the hardest time in Momofuku’s history, and I’m writing today to share more hard news and to discuss what comes next. As I mentioned in my last note, I started here as an intern straight out of college and never left. Like many of you, I stuck around because of the people who work here. You are the heart of our company, and you deserve a clear explanation of the changes that we’re making, why we’re making them, and what our vision for the future is.

After significant deliberation, we have had to make the extremely difficult decision to permanently close Nishi and CCDC. (more…)

Thanks to JoeNotExotic (love that name, by the by) for sending:

“Does anyone in DC know what’s going on with Firefly? I will cry super big tears if it’s gone forever.”

Ed. Note
: Last week we noted renovations coming to Number Nine in Logan Circle. Presumably we’ll see many more as guidance comes on how bars/restaurants may reopen with social distancing?

Thanks to all who sent from today’s situational update.

From the Mayor’s Office:

“Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser issued Mayor’s Order 2020-066 to extend the District’s public emergency and public health emergency and continue to require individuals to stay home through June 8, 2020. The Mayor’s Order can be found here.

“The continued sacrifices by residents and businesses are saving lives and helping us get to the other side of this incredibly difficult time for our city,” said Mayor Bowser. “Together, by staying home a little longer, soon we will be able to reopen DC safely and sustainably.”

As the District continues to prepares to #ReOpenDC, the Mayor today outlined several criteria based on federal guidance that the District must meet before beginning phased reopening: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I received a strange email from the Aveda salon in Georgetown that said, “Following the government guidelines, we will be able to reopen our salon on May 16th”.

I thought Bowser has yet to detail if she will extend the May 15 Stay-at-Home order and what our DC phased openings will look like…Did I miss something? If so, I hope I’m not the only one concerned that we’re reopening while our hospitalizations keep rising.”

Ed. Note: The email from Aveda seems very very premature. It is highly unlikely given the current state of affairs that we’ll see a reopening starting this Saturday. Of course I’ll update with the official word as soon as more info is given from the Mayor’s office.

Thanks to all who forwarded us the email from Aveda:

“We hope this finds you and your loved ones well and safe. Following the government guidelines, we will be able to reopen our salon in Georgetown on May 16th with one priority: the safety of our team and visitors

Therefore, all the necessary precautions have been taken to ensure a serene and pleasant experience in our salon:

To our Beloved Georgetown Guests: (more…)

Ed. Note: We’ve spoken about the Trucker convoy here.

From AlertDC:

“On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at 10:30AM a parade of buses and motor coaches will “roll” into the Nation’s Capital to highlight the essential role the industry plays in moving people, whether to school, work, events, or for travel. Approximately 700 buses are scheduled to come to the city and drive around the National Mall using three different routes. The rally is called “Motor Coaches Rolling for Awareness.” (more…)
