Thanks to a reader for sending word that Mr. P’s is coming to Shaw at the corner of 6th and Rhode Island Ave, NW. They are currently located at 514 Rhode Island Ave, NE. Anyone ever try them at that location?

“Dear PoP,

Has anyone tried these guys out?

The rig is pretty impressive, but more importantly what about the food? Would love to know who has the best BBQ here in the city. I live in the Bloomingdale neighborhood and it would rock to have a BBQ place close by. There is a BBQ place on RI Ave by the Getty Station but really doesn’t look like it does any business…nor does it look sanitary. Would love to hear what people have to say.”

Wow, this looks pretty cool. Mt. Vernon Triangle blog wrote about it here. It is located on the corner of 6th 4th and New York Ave, NW. DC Pit BBQ is Georgia based but features Kansas City Style BBQ. Anyone give them a try yet?

Ed. Note: We’ve previously discussed BBQ spots here, and here and here and here.

Rocklands is located at 2418 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. I know we have lots of bbq fans so I’m curious if there are any fans of Rocklands? Walking by the spot smelled delicious. Many folks mentioned Rocklands when we discussed best bbq in the city. So I thought it deserved its own post. For the fans, what do you like best? Any must order items?

Back in October Kenny’s was briefly mentioned when we discussed the best BBQ in the city. But I thought it deserved its own proper review. Kenny’s is located at 732 Maryland Ave, NE. Any particular favorites from this spot?  What’s the best – pork, chicken or beef?

Speaking of BBQ Tom Siestma wrote last week in the GOG:

“Hill Country, the big barn of a barbecue joint in New York, is coming to Washington, courtesy of its founder, Bethesda native Marc Glosserman. While the self-service restaurant is still a year away from opening in Penn Quarter (at 410 Seventh St. NW), some of us are already licking our lips in anticipation of a slab or two of the signature dry-rubbed, slow-smoked brisket and ribs.”

A reader combines my love of fire escapes and bbqs. He writes:

“Saw this on the side of an apartment building in Columbia Heights yesterday, and thought you might be interested. I guess if you don’t have a backyard but really want to barbecue, this is a sweet way to do it!”

I love it.
