Remembering

via Captain White’s Seafood

Thanks to Henry for passing on the very sad news from Captain White’s Seafood:

“Captain Whites is Mourning today for our Captain, our leader, a Husband, a Father, mentor, the hardest most dedicated, passionate, loving man.
Billy Ray White
07/16/1955-07/14/2020

He was involved in a fatal car Accident.
He will forever and always be in our hearts and minds. Every day when we come to work he is everywhere and in every detail. He truely loved every customer he ever waited on or had the pleasure of meeting.
He will never be forgotten and always will be missed.

Captain Whites Legacy will continue on (more…)

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

I am faced with a looming question and I need help. Should I return to school and teach on August 31st or not? Today, there are about 5,000 public school teachers in Washington, DC facing that same question. Countless families are also hoping it is safe, but no one can be sure.

Teachers scour for reliable information as decisions take place above our heads. Important school-related news is released to the public before we are made aware. It feels like, by design, we are the last to know. This keeps us on guard, searching feverishly for the full story about what we are facing in the fall.

My wife and I are expecting a daughter on October 29th, but I am expected to return to school to start teaching on August 31st. I call that date the point of no return as I talk with family and friends. My gallows humor hardly disguises that I am afraid. I fear for students, for colleagues, for my family and myself. (more…)

Bloomingdale

This is just an absolutely terrifying report from some readers in Eckington: “11:02 pm was time of gunfire…

Bullet holes through about seven cars on the unit block of Seaton Place, NE. Bullets also hit the house across North Capitol on the NW side and bullets went through the door into their house. If you zoom on the house pic you’ll see two bullet holes above the door. Note that was ACROSS North Cap. Terrifying it went all the way across and through their house!”
