“Saturday morning near Glens Garden market–hundreds of thousands of bees moving their hive, from this bush to this tree, stopping pedestrians and traffic. A passerby was a former beekeeper and called a DC Beekeepers Alliance, and he said they are resting in the tree in an enormous mass while scout bees keep searching for the next hive location. They rested precariously in an enormous clump in the tree. Apparently they are European Honey Bees.
Hours later a crowd has gathered and watched the bee keepers rescue the bees–the hive was about 8lbs of bees. Of course it happened as the Correspondents dinner was starting so the street was crazy.
